REMASTER from an old analog mixtape for the '8AM Side' of my second mix tape DESERT FUNK, best copy we could find!  This side gives a nice window into some of the post sunrise, early morning  Moontribe vibes back in the early days. All vinyl like the 2AM, and a little rough around the edges mix-wise as well, this side features only 5 tracks but I had a lot of fun mixing them together and stretching out that first mix. Thanks to all of you sunrise lovers in the desert that inspired this side! Thanks again to Scott Cattanach for the fresh, original cover art, Ken Lawrence of Pure Acid Mixtapes for helping me spread the word, Moontribe for giving me a chance, LA DJ godfathers like Doc Martin, Steve Loria, and DJ Dan for their help and guidance, all the fans and promoters for their support, and of course the fabulous, rockin' artists who provide the music for this sonic journey.

Dave Mak (aka DMak) sharpened his needles on the midwest rave scene in the early to mid-90's before transplanting to San Francisco in '98.  Beginning as a radio jockey in college, DJing quickly became a passion and an outlet for his love for music and dancing.  Drawing from his influences of Chicago house, Detroit techno and ever evolving underground electronic dance music, much of the music he plays is a fusion of melodic grooves, clean percussive rhythms, heavy  baselines and often dubby overtones with atmospheric sound effects.   Little is more satisfying to him than moving the dance floor with his music which is what he loves most about mixing records.   Always striving to create easy listening dance music his mixes are long and smooth; forward thinking how to transport the listening audience from point A to B through his musical sound scape creating a "vibe" and a feeling to his sets.  

His repertoire and music collection span vast genres - from deep house and techno to Nudisco, 'indie', downtempo, hip-hop, rare groove, soul, funk, r&b and ambient.  

Dave is also co-founder of Deep Technique, promoters of cool-ass, booty shakin' parties that focus on the highest quality underground house music and catering to the enthusiast that follow it.  We deliver exceptionally talented musicians that throw down gritty, soulful, techy, house that pushes the envelope of the electronic music scene.   Dave has a very successful track record for providing stellar DJ entertainment for a variety of private party and events.
