2023 marked the initiation of Task Horizon's 'Respawned' Remix series, with remixes from the likes of Audio, Burr Oak, Joe Ford & Phace marking the series' inception. As we embark upon 2024, we are steadfast in our commitment to this endeavour and take pride in introducing the fourth instalment of the series, graciously presented by the distinguished Czech pioneer, Rido.

Widely recognized within the Neurofunk sub-genre, Rido boasts a career that spans a little over 15 years, and is marked by an impressive portfolio of releases on renowned labels within Drum & Bass, including Metalheadz, Blackout, and Eatbrain.

Assuming authoritative control on the fourth instalment of the project, Rido delivers a dynamic and vivacious reinterpretation of "Hyperion." This rendition skilfully steers the original track towards a more musical trajectory while bowing grace to the original composition.

With Rido steering the ship into 2024 with the fourth instalment, there are several chapters left to unveil, leading up to the anticipated reveal of the complete LP.

Flittering up from beneath the facades of ruined buildings cast in the filtered light of fading day came frolicking a faction of miniature miscreants, hellbent on nothing more or less than calamitous chaos of a kind most ultimately benign. This part of the city, only recently fallen from its former splendor into a relative state of forgotten disrepair, had become their favored haunt and a canvas upon which they painted their mural of mischief. Indeed, though sometimes disturbed by their devious pranks, those humans who still lived within the dilapidated dwellings of the neighborhood looked upon these minute beings with a sense of familiar nostalgia, reminiscent as they were of the deeds of their own childhoods upon the very same city streets.

Thus, there was something of an enchantment to the gremlin’s general goblinry. The high-pitched shrieks of sheer thrill that resulted from the success of their misdeeds, the skitter and scrape of their bicycles, skateboards, and all other manner of experimental wheeled vehicles, and the freshly odorous fumes of the spraypaint that newly adorned many of the neighborhood’s walls. In this place so forgotten by their human brethren, these RASCALS had brought a revitalizing presence to the ruined alleys in which they ran, their ruckus reinvigorating the empty, crumbling streets.

MNDSCP rallies the RASCALS of the EATBRAIN horde with his latest EP, gleefully titled under that name to unify the rowdy and cacophonous sounds within. Across the four-track span of RASCALS, boisterous basslines rebound amidst an atmosphere of silly sonics that brings a rejuvenating levity to the monstrous menagerie of the EATBRAIN horde.

The portal’s trans dimensional trajectory had shifted suddenly, shunting the woebegotten scientist instantaneously into the furthest reaches in uncharted space. Thanks only due to his rapid reflexes and unquestionable ability with the technology he wielded, the scientist has been able to save himself from a frigid death amidst the interstellar void, instead redirecting his course to the nearest solid planetary body.

It was there upon it's rocky surface he now stood, surrounded by a vast and barren nothingness steeped in beige and dust. Above him in the sky loomed the seething maw of the portal that had delivered him here, glowing red hot at its core thanks to the fission of atmospheric molecules that occurred constantly within it at its present altitude. Occasionally, the hairs on the scientist’s arms would stand vertically in salute to the electromagnetic charges generated by the swirling vortex, and yet amidst the strange atmosphere of this distant planetoid not a single sound could be heard. There he stood, LOST IN SILENCE, a castaway adrift at the furthest reaches of all creation.

AKOV returns to EATBRAIN with LOST IN SILENCE, the latest EP from neurofunk’s ursine overlord that stands set to send the EATBRAIN horde to the genre's furthest sonic reaches thanks to the depth of AKOV’s scientifically tuned sonics, which this time includes, metal – his very own band: AENYGMA -, breakbeat and even a hint of jazz.
