'Las Flores Del Mal' are the flowers of death, but they are also the rotten, imperfect, hard flowers that embody a fecund and beautiful force. It is in the tension between darkness and beauty, in the darkest moments of life, that the most beautiful can bloom. From the Baudelairean-decadentist motif of Las flores del mal to the darker calm of a Lullaby, which does not want to let us sleep, this EP is tense between death and resurrection. Between evil and what could blossom from it.

“Ich Geh Nicht Mit Dir” is a stunning, intoxicating title, which could lead the crowd to a certain alienation. The metronomic groove of the song is carried by swirling vocals and pads, an almost horrifying atmosphere of a manhunt !

The second original piece “Running through Fiction” is definitively a pure dancefloor track ! The manhunt goes to the next level, danger is everywhere and the only way out is certainly the dancefloor ! The dance steps follow one after the other, the sneakers smoke, the bodies sweat, welcome in the secret playground !

Welcome to the talented Jason Core on the imprint. The spanish producer gives to the eponym track a more Italo way, giving extra energy. And when the acid wave breaks, it’s crazy !

To close the wonderful release, Jakob Mäder is back with a pretty housy remix of the second original track. And when the piano is added to the rhythm, a kind of melancholy accompanies the hearts. Or maybe it’s joy ?

'Havana Sun' by Dougal Fox has received such a wonderful reception in the summer of 2023, with early support ranging from John Digweed to Damian Lazarus to Ida Endberg and many more - it is a unique piece of music, with a heads down rave sensibility - melodic layers set atop a hazy synth, before the penultimate breakdown with throbbing synth bass galore. Wally Lopez on the flip side remix graces us with us his presence - he has an internationally celebrated 30 year plus career as one of the pioneers of electronic music in Spain - Wally is the only Spanish artist to have made two different Essential Mixes on BBC1 and his Iberican house sound is unique, polished and intelligent. fishplant is back! After his remix for FLYJNT last winter, and his successful releases on labels like Be Adult Music or Rythmica, now is our time to present you 'That's A Vibe on Fibonacci's Forest' - the last EP by this outstanding producer known for his upbeat and happy melodic style.

'That's A Vibe' is the opening track, a delicate gorgeous production where vibrating synths setup the vibe dancing over organic grooves - leaving space for its delicious vocal to shine through on a journey. One of our 2025favorites!

'Fibonacci's Forest' is a perfect B Side. A groovy, heavier floating track featuring a melody using Fibonacci's sequence layered over different nature soundscapes. 

On the remix duties, first presented is the return of Alley SA. The Cape Town based producer gives his magic touch to 'That's A Vibe', with a more Organic House approach that suits any beachclub spot.

Pinkowitz closes the EP, with an amazing debut by the American producer on PB stepping into a more hypnotic, melodic side of House music crafting a track perfect for setting up the vibe on a darker dancefloor.

Dougal Fox has a storied and celebrated history with electronic music - from his beginnings of being a club punter in the early 2000’s Global Underground-esque world, becoming wrapped up in the rise dance culture was a part of how he conducted his affairs on a day to day level - a level of imprinting and deep respect for the love of the underground - this sudden jump one cannot make - the transition to label owner for Dougal was a natural progression in his life cycle as an artist, composer, writer and performer/DJ.  Quickly he was able to secure and begin his international DJ residencies - first in Sydney, Australia at the iconic super club ‘Home’, as well as New Zealand’s premiere club ‘Sandwiches’ in Wellington. Gonzo heady late night club music with flashing metallic synths set atop a laser wonderland.
 
Beyond the gilded chambers of dance halls and the pulsating beats within them, Dougal ventured out quite naturally into the realm of electronic music composition.  To that end, Ray Of Light was the label that was borne from his vision, in that ‘[his] mission is to deliver a rich experience for listeners and to provide a solid representational platform to music producers both established and on the rise’.
 
Dougal’s vision at Ray Of Light is based on us honouring the past and looking ahead to the future - new sonic possibilities within the overall glaze of house music and electronic music.  Semantics, words, labels - forego this part of our discussion and let the music do the speaking. With world class musicians already onboard the label, such as Bushwacka!, Dusty Kid, Hermanez, Circulation, Glenn Morrison, and many more - we will be excited to showcase this budding catalogue over the coming year.
