Really excited to share this one recorded live from Gorgomish Afterhours. 
This was a special gig as it was my first time sharing the decks with the one and only @Sivz! 
She is a long time running friend of mine who we met at gorgomish over 10 years ago. 
The night was absolute fire from start to finish and here is my opening set, where I start with some groovey minimal and deep tech, and then work the way up to some heavier tech house and progressive.

FREQUENCY UNDERGROUND INTERVIEW WITH WHATEVER, MAN:

How did you come up with your dj name: 
- The origin of “Whatever, Man” came from a phrase I say all the time, to the point where I get mocked for it. I also believe music should be fun so I wanted to pick a name that didn’t sound so serious. As a DJ, I like to play a wide range of music and it all depends on the scenario and the time and place, so when people ask me what do you play, it’s Whatever, Man. 

How and when did you get into djing: 
- I’ve been DJing for about a year. There’s a saying in the industry, if you hang out long enough you either become a promoter or a DJ. Turns out to be accurate and I ended up doing both. At the start I swore I wouldn’t DJ and instead I would get involved with every other aspect of the industry. I started DJing simply because I wanted to share music that I like. Being surrounded by DJs, my days of being a Spotify DJ came to an end so if I wanted to share music at parties, I needed to learn how to DJ. 

Who are your musical influences and what is your inspiration: 
- I get inspiration from all music, specifically from small events and friends that make music. My inspiration comes from my love of sharing music people probably haven’t heard. I love going to small festival gatherings, like Sonic Oasis, and I always leave feeling inspired by the wide range of styles and music people share. It’s truly a showcase of underground music and new sounds.

Describe your sound as a DJ:
- Gut Music!! It's not defined by one style of sound, beat, or tempo. Gut music is every moment where music transcended fear, annihilated pain, embraced sadness, and lifted indifference. Music is an expression of emotion so I try to deliver that while also having it be fun and upbeat. But really it’s, Whatever, Man and it’s dictated by the time, place, and scenario.

What does the future hold in store for you as an artist:
- As a DJ, it’s just to continue to have fun with it and use it as an outlet to express my emotions. My main area of focus is supporting artist and growing the community through artist management and event production. When it makes sense, I like to play small events, usually put on by friends and I specifically love opening and setting the vibe for the night!

San Diego-based producer Burko has taken over the SoCal scene by storm with his uniquely dark-yet- melodic style of house and techno. Beginning his production journey only a few years ago, Burko’s music has been picked up and played by many established DJ’s including Deadmau5, David Guetta, Vintage Culture, Steve Aoki, Above & Beyond, Lane 8, Kyle Watson, Kevin de Vries, Konstantin Sibold, Gorgon City, and Maya Jane Coles. Most recent collaborations include “Letting Go” with SNBRN on Ultra Records, "Vertigo" with Autograf via Armada Records, and an EP with Speaker Honey on 'mau5trap,' with upcoming releases on Yotto's Label'Odd One Out' with Sian, and more releases coming on 'Armada' and 'mau5trap.

End Of Summer Mix 2023

Celebrated 2 friends birthdays today by playing an hour each of one of their fave artists. Really enjoyed playing tracks by both Tin and S+S. Had so many to choose from but hope you enjoy my selection.

Deep Wednesday Special Tinlicker & S+S Edition (9-13-23)

Absolute chaos in the Coconut Club laser pit as I closed things out from 1-3am. I've been really getting into some higher bpm party tunes lately and this turned out to be the perfect time to go off the rails with all my new weapons. The recording captures the second hour and grand finale as the late night  crowd followed me on a journey from 130bpm to 170 in the span of an action-packed hour.
