It’s fair to say that Boris Bunnik has made an impact in his short career. In less than a decade this dutch man, under monikers like Conforce and Versalife, has scaled Electro and Techno with subtle ambient touches and IDM echoes. And that’s exactly what he’s doing for the Singularity EP. Lush pads and flowing bars punctuated by crisp percussion, “Shine Eye” sets the scene. “Autobots” adopts those same brittle beats, this time using them to send dreaming strings skyward. Northern winds swirl around the colder chords of “MILnet”, chords that dawn into absorbing swirls of “Transgenics.” Masterful machine music.

Just under a year after their last big impression on Rekids, Private Press are back with four more of their brilliant big room techno cuts.

This Polish pair hail from Warsaw and are focused on producing high energy and dubbed out techno. Already this year they have released on the Ziema label and had a strong 2018 two EPs on the highly regarded Indigo Area. Their powerful sound is a perfect fit with the no frills Rekids label and these four tracks all do plenty of damage.

Opener ‘Traces to Nowhere’ is an impossibly bristling track with razor sharp synth stabs and jostling drums that are redolent of the masterful Shed. Part old school, part a vision of the future, it is impeccably produced.

‘Paper Clip’ is a haunting, high speed dub techno trip with eerie chords and sound design that keep you on edge, and ‘Wet Moon’ is a broken beat masterclass with sirens, tense breakdowns and icy hi hat ringlets that is archetypal club weaponry.

Last but not least, the warm, atmospheric and unrelenting banger that is ‘The Struggle’ sweeps you up and carries you away on a classy techno vibe and rolling drums that you could listen to for days.

This is a devastating EP of high impact, high quality techno.

@contagiondiscs is a new label from @do-the-astral-plane founder Gabe Meier, setup to showcase “dancefloor music from the United States”. The debut EP ‘Augmented’ comes from @eli_jah_m, simultaneously marking the Kansas City-based artist’s first official release. The @cminuss crew member introduces themself in bold fashion with six tracks ranging between six and 16 minutes in length, exploring catharsis through vivid rave psychedelia. 
 
‘Augmented’(Ascendant Mix) is a highlight. The opening sounds like a nuclear facility’s meltdown warning system, with alarm-like tones blaring around unsettlingly calm voice commands. From there the track builds to headspace elevating peaks, via surging basslines and spiralling synth delirium.
