Refuge Worldwide - RAW FRUITS - Episode 2 - 22nd September 2022 - Presented by BeatPete

For the last 10 years I’ve been releasing this project exploring music that evokes spirituality and a connection to nature. Spiritual music that isn’t necessarily religious in nature and also has a wide musical lens, beyond spiritual jazz or gospel for example.

Spring in my hometown of Montreal always arrives at least 4 weeks later than almost anywhere in the world. And because of our long grueling winters, when springtime arrives in the city you can feel the effect on everyone’s collective mood. There’s a certain indescribable electricity in the air.

This project is dedicated to my mom.
Dedicated to all of us who have survived the storms.

I've relaunched my label "Baumhouse" and am happy about the thriving and growing house scene in Rostock. With my mix and the mixes of my colleagues, I want to showcase the Baumhouse sound and show where we're headed. We're also planning new digital and physical releases. Perhaps the first "Baumhouse" vinyl will be out soon. I'll be playing more live sets in the future, as I feel more comfortable with them than with DJ mixes. I hope you enjoy listening. (@sischke-1)

Soul Kid Klik are a New York based crew that was formed by producer/rapper/Jazz musician G-Clef da Mad Komposa in the mid 90's. They were one-time Wu-Tang affiliated being signed to GZA’s imprint but the label folded after a while forcing them to take the independent route.⁠

After dropping ‘Invisible Army” on vinyl back in 2018 we have now compiled 12 more tracks that were originally recorded between 1994-1998. Out of these 12, 9 will be on vinyl for the first time ever (5 solo tracks from Infamous Mr. Savage and 4 from G-Clef) in addition to 3 Goodfella Mike G tracks that appeared on his solo album.⁠

Lenzman is back on Metalheadz with his first original work since his debut album Looking At The Stars. The EP is everything you would expect from Lenzman; soulful and well produced with a firm eye on the dancefloor. The release features regular collaborators Steo, Dan Stezo and newcomer producer Forren. It’s a welcome return to the label for Lenzman with six massive tracks that remind us of what a talent the producer is.

Solid Steel (16th June) This week it's an incredible honour to welcome Afrobeat legend Tony Allen to Solid Steel. His drumming was the driving force behind Fela Kuti’s Africa ’70s band and he also recorded a string of solo albums. His latest release 'A Tribute to Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers' honours another extraordinary drummer and is released on Blue Note. Art Blakey was an idol for Tony Allen and Art Blakey was inspired by trips to West Africa, recording African-inspired jazz LPs in the 50's and 60's. The EP was recorded live with his 8-piece band and is a preview of his forthcoming first album for the classic Blue Note record label. You can hear 2 tracks from the EP in the mix alongside  music from the following artists old and new with words from Tony Allen for each track

Solid Steel Radio Show 16/6/2017 Hour 1 - Tony Allen

Every mix in our series is special for different reasons, but there’s no denying that a new one from DâM-FunK will always turn heads. The multi-talented American DJ, musician and vocalist is a one man funk machine who has spent his life distilling boogie, g-funk, electro and synth pop into his own modern take on the genre. The Stones Throw afficionado and Glydezone head honcho has an encyclopaedic knowledge of music, is a prolific producer and collaborator with the likes of Snoop Dogg, and for ten years has hosted his own LA party Funkmosphere. Also, make sure to keep your eyes and ears pealed for his upcoming release ‘Architecture II’, dropping in August. 

This selection is very much like a night at one of those events: at nearly three and a half hours long, it touches on every facet of DâM-FunK’s sound from the opening and closing eighties synth-pop of Prefab Sprout to Jayda G’s recent tribal house cut ‘Sestra’s Cry’. Next to those, an impossibly diverse list of house and funk names includes Omar-S and Sylvia Striplin, 808 State and Barry White, Bas Noir and YES. As is always the way with DâM-FunK, each track is given the respect it deserves. The mixing is unfussy, often allowing tracks to end before slamming in the next one. Sometimes he moves the mix forwards, at others he takes a brave sidestep that would seem impossible on paper but that makes perfect sense in the context of this mix. All that means its likely you’ll keep on coming back to this timeless selection for many years to come.

Revelation Of Sound is pleased to present Moscow artist Anton Kubikov who started career in 1994. His music had over 70 releases on vinyl labels such as Kompakt, Force Tracks, Trapez, Salo, MAYAK, Pro-tez, Traum and Freizeitglauben with project Scsi-9 and under his name.
Born in Moscow, DJ and producer, co-owner of Pro–tez record label Anton Kubikov is one of the key figures of the Russian electronic music scene.
His wide musical range extends from dub to techno and accompanied by a unique selection of the material, which can be heard on his many podcasts and can be seen on the shelves at his own shop Randomart in Prague.
Under his own name, Anton wrote ambient, dub techno and house music, which can be heard on such labels as Kompakt, his own Pro–tez, MAYAK, Elusive, etc.
Juras Lietus alter ego was created as a full analog modular live concept project that represents Anton’s fascination with techno and cold electronics.
As a well known SCSI-9 outfit Anton and Maxim Milyutenko have released over 50 records and 4 full Length albums and became a mainstay at Kompakt Recordings family. Pro–Tez records was created in 2005 together with Ed Vertov and Maxim Milyutenko. It became one of the first Russian vinyl record labels that gave a serious jump start to many young electronic musicians from ex-Soviet Union and became part of Kompakt Label distribution family.
Anton also participated in the broadcast of the first Moscow’s FM radio station called Substation from 1995 – 2001. These first broadcast had an immense influence on the development of modern Russian music culture and helped shape the tastes of many techno enthusiasts.
