Ekstasis - Deep Space Transmissions Vol. 2

This is the second episode of the DST podcast by Ekstasis, featuring original music, sound, and recordings. Deep Space Transmissions is a series of podcasts created to induce positive altered states of consciousness using experimental sound techniques and neurophysiological information. Deep Space Transmissions Vol. 2 incorporates live EEG data recorded and used in music production, it also features binaural audio patterns that have been synchronized to the delta brainwave pattern. Ekstasis used an EEG device connected to his skull and routed into a computer that displayed and recorded his brainwave patterns in various states of meditation, breathing, concentration, and while simultaneously composing and producing the music for this episode. DST Vol. 2 is meant to be played with headphones at a moderate volume, while viewing the accompanying video track also made by Ekstasis for this episode. The listener and viewer may be able to synchronize their brainwaves to those of the artist's while he composed the music and created the sounds. The cochlear nerve (auditory or acoustic nerve) is one of two parts of the vestibulocochlear nerve, a cranial nerve present in humans and other mammals. The cochlear nerve carries auditory sensory information from the cochlea of the inner ear directly to the brain. Ekstasis has a personal theory that by using specific sounds and visuals that are synchronized to certain human brainwave patterns such as alpha and delta waves, the listener's brain may be able to conduct the electrical signal from the cochlear nerve  and synchronize the listener's actual brainwaves to those in the audio and video tracks and thus use sound to alter consciousness directly as specific brainwave patterns are associated with different types of consciousness, sensation, perception, and awareness. For best results, listen to DST Vol. 2 in a private, calm environment alone, ideally with headphones or a high quality stereo or surround sound speaker system. Spacewalk Volume 21

-History-
Ekstasis was introduced to and fell in love with rave culture and electronic music at an early age in the 90's in Miami, FL. The diversity of culture and music he was exposed to continues to be a major source of his inspiration. 

His style and selection are deeply influenced by early rave culture as well as the techno, house, trance, ambient, and drone genres of electronic music. Diverse historical, traditional, and contemporary international music genres of all kinds also heavily influence the style of his productions. 

Ekstasis works to spread the ideals brought forth by the pioneers of the early electronic dance music movement to a wider audience, new generations, and performs to bring listeners to a state of altered perception so they can look at the world and hopefully, themselves and their fellow humans in new, more insightful ways. 

Ekstasis is a member and founder of AGE Media and produces tracks on AGE Records. Ekstasis works closely with the talented DJ DOC.

-Tours and Events-
As of 2023, Ekstasis has performed at dozens of clubs, festivals, parties and other live events across the US, including many long-form continuously live mixed and performed DJ sets for his livestreamed online radio show, Spacewalk. 

-Spacewalk-
This show is performed live by Ekstasis using a variety of instruments, including computers, DAW's, analogue and digital mixers, turntables, and synthesizers of many varieties. Spacewalk episodes are always broadcasted live and online on at least one livestreaming platform. In the past, Spacewalk episodes have been performed on DI.fm, Livestream, Mixify, Soundcloud, Soma FM, and YouTube, among others.
