Houston’s newest and most extensive festival, freshdark Fest, will take over and occupy the minds and hearts of this great city’s music enthusiasts on June 20th, 2015 at the Last Concert Café on 1403 Nance Street. freshDark aims to create an imaginative and inspiring environment that seeks to expose and foster an appreciation for many emerging artists, ranging from Electronica, Funk, Acid Jazz, Broken Beat, Soul, Reggae, Hip-Hop—future sounds generated in an organic fashion. 
Headlining this inaugural boutique festival are Shafiq Husayn of Sa-Ra Creative Partners who have produced music for seminal artists such as Kanye West, Andre 3000, Robert Glasper, Bilal, and countless other music aficionados. The co-headliners, OSHUN, are fresh off of the Red Bull Sound Select stage, AFROPUNK FEST, and Broccoli Fest working most recently with Neo Soul’s reigning queen, Erykah Badu. 

Curators of freshDark have worked tirelessly to bring the most adventurous artists, initiating an annual festival with the hope to bring together a coalition of local and international artist who specialize in pushing sonic terrain that has yet to be discovered.

Curator of the Texas College DJ Battle held annually on the campus of Rice University. Co-Curator of the eclectic movements based DJ duo "Soul Control", whose styles range in various high energy music genres intending to make you dance all night. For 9 years, Elevated has cultivated his artistic approach to DJing by fusing musical genres from around the world, incorporating House, Eletronic Fusions, Funk, Soul, Hip Hop, Afro-Beat, Dancehall, genres from the Latin and African diasporas and beyond. He could be coined as one of the most versatile DJ's in Texas, Houston being his hometown and place of residence. Elevated has played at most of the well known and well regarded venues in Houston, including a weekly Thursday residency at the House of Blues Foundation Room and a weekly Sunday Residency at The Alley Kat. Elevated also co hosts a radio show call Oil & Wax Radio on 90.1 KPFT's HD3 channel, along with hosts Kool Bob Skee, Eroda One, and DJ Anarchy, which highlights emerging Electronic, Hip Hop, and International artists, and tackles topics that affect the local musical climate in Houston.

DJ Elevated has had the pleasure of working with a myriad of artist including Devin the Dude (Toured with in 2011), Shafiq Husayn, OSHUN, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Dudley Perkins, Count Bass D, Elaquent, DJ Jamad, Mike Flo, AllDay, The Aspiring Me, Milky Wayv, and a hosts of many local Houston artists. Elevated also lived in Detroit for a year in 2014, which expanded his understanding of House, Ghetto Tech, Electronic and Boom Bap inspired genres. (RIP J Dilla)
