Our guest this episode is Rabit. A veritable Houston legend, underground king, Halcyon Veil label-founder, and critically acclaimed producer, who has previously released with Björk, Arca, and many other notable figures.

Rabit seems like a character fresh out of a Harmony Korine film — that grungy, fuck-you-all aesthetic shines through in his CENTER BOOTH performance. He opens with 6 minutes of crackling and howling void, before echoing in ‘Moments in Love’ by Art of Noise. Throughout, subtly chopped classics like Yung Joc’s ‘It’s Goin’ Down’ unravel into melodic samples, ranging as far as Nirvana’s ‘Heart Shaped Box’ before ultimately collapsing into Armand’s Dark Garage Mix of ‘Spin Spin Sugar’ by the Sneaker Pimps, notably one of the few dance tracks of the hour.

Rabit’s set is a masterclass in vocal and melody layering across genres, building tension and only ever releasing us briefly and into the unexpected.
