The 38th release of katharsis and our final release of 2023 is the prodigious compilation "Embracing Darkness, Absorbing Light" featuring a vast array of artist beloved by the label. Throughout the grandiose line-up of the 36 tracks, the listener is absorbed by various differing interpretations of the theme outlined in the title of the album. Some of the invited artist went full into introverted progressions and meditative sounds, while others focused on aggressive rhythms or anthemic melodies. But even though the styles and techniques of the songs differ from each other, the artists seem to have some commonality in their sonic palettes that binds it all together in a mutual love for music as a healing force of nature <3

@akafae is an ethereal musician residing in Brooklyn, New York. Inspired by magical realism and neofantasy, their primary interest lies in the creation of worlds, weaving stories in sound to be inevitably lost with time, leaving their listeners with the lingering memory of feeling and experience. They owe a lot of their sonic preference to their dreamlike childhood in Virginia, spending sun-stricken afternoons at rivers and in forests.

In search of lush realities, AKAFAË favors trance, drum and bass, and braindance on the dancefloor. Their own production floats between shoegaze and pop ballad, ambient and noise, seeking to balance yin and yang without limiting themself to genre or setting.

Their favorite authors are Philip Pullman and Salman Rushdie. They love the Persona games and often spend down time playing them with their Siamese cat, Chef. They love the feeling of love, and are the sort of romantic who thinks everything is a love letter, and who cries whether they're happy or sad.

They spent the last twelve months running on grocery store sushi and seasonal Red Bulls. AKAFAË is a member of ChaoGardem, of 909 Worldwide, and especially DEATHBYSHEEP. (=^･ω･^=)

So, sit down, put your headphones on, put play... and just... cry a little, skull-bash a wall, or f*ck your neighbor, whatever feels more natural ☺️
