This month on the Inara podcast, we are featuring some of my favorite tracks by my favorite Producer and DJ duo, Bedouin. This is an hour long mix compiled of Bedouin originals, remixes and edits they’ve composed over the years.

Growing up, from a middle eastern family and around middle eastern culture, I was always listening to arabic music all the time. However, being born and raised in America, as an Egyptian-American, it felt like I didn’t really truly connect with my family’s culture and I also felt like some of an outcast in American culture as well. I made many friends, however, there was a part of me that did not feel fully accepted by my peers. I listened to house music on the regular growing up and attended many dance parties because I felt the most welcomed in those spaces. 

Still, the music didn’t quite hit me in the .. f e e l s .. in all the ways music is capable of doing. It was not until I discovered Bedouin for the first time back in 2014/15 and it felt like I FINALLY found the music I was in dire search for  — in my mind, I finally found the artists that bridged these two worlds of my Middle Eastern and American cultures. Their music then led me down to path to find other artists that have similar elements in their music, such as Viken Armen, LUM, Satori, Pablo Fierro, Nick Warren, Black Coffee, Lost Desert, Lee Burridge, Oceanvs Orientalis and more. 

Finding these artists finally gave me the confidence to really dive deep into my own creativity, to begin my journey as a DJ and learn how to produce my own music, which is a skill I am actively developing and cultivating. Which, if I'm being honest, you never really stop learning. 

I am super excited to bring you episode 21 of Inara, the Bedouin Tribute.

About the Artists:

Originally formed in Brooklyn and now based in Miami, Bedouin is production & DJ partnership between nomads Tamer Malki and Rami Abousabe who are creating their own idiosyncratic spell of melody sand rhythms. Together they share an eclectic sonic vision that pulls from diverse influences owing to their Middle Eastern heritage, Western upbringing, and world travels. Their combined musical backgrounds and ever-evolving taste captures the sensibility of imagination and constantly explores the connection between ourselves and the future.

Huge thanks to everyone who danced with me. I was already sparkeled with the magic of this unique festival and all the lovely people around me there. But this gig? It was like the ultimate prickle on top. Much love to my @rebelliondertraumer crew 🧡

Brian Zajak, alias Fejká, began his musical career at the age of 17. Torn between the dreamy, soft atmosphere of ambient music and the hard, punchy vibe of techno, Fejká couldn't decide which direction his music production should take. “Day/night, dream/dance, slow/fast - music was always split into two worlds for me” he says. So he decided to experiment with both.

With his sunrise set at this year's Fusion, he took our hearts by storm and we are happy to present his unique style on our channel.

We felt like serving you a Blue Monday today, even though it’s Thursday! But Tamas Skafar, an up-and-coming talent from Hungary, mixed such a delicious cocktail for Schirmchendrink, we just couldn’t wait! 

Tamas is 31 years old and is playing music almost half of his life. His preferred genres are Melodic Techno, Progressive and Deep House. He has his own club nights with the party series called „Aura“ and, together with Reelaux, he founded the record label Midway Music in 2014. 

His first track was published in 2010. Since then he releases under labels such as Inlab Recordings, Aftertech Records or Visceral. We are convinced that there will be a lot more from this outstanding talent in the future !

A perfect example of something that is delicious because it is sweet, bitter and sour at the same time is today’s fantastic cocktail by Fejká. His smooth creation for Schirmchendrink is a very desirable sip, and the light sugary melodies but sour and sometimes bitterish melancholy is a flavor that is absolutely lovable!

Based in Stuttgart, Brian Zajak, aka Fejká, began his musical career at the age of 17. Torn between the atmospheric vibe and the calm of ambient music, as well as the state of absolute ecstasy that provokes the powerful beat of techno, Fejká couldn’t decide which direction his music production would take. Thus, he decided to experiment with both.

Drawn to artists such as Christian Löffler, HVOB and Kiasmos, the appeal of his style lies in its varied influences, and ability to harness the best of two contrasting genres. It was Christian Löffler himself who approached him, leading to his Debut EP "Twilight" which was released 2017 on Löffler’s Label Ki Records. 

His highly anticipated Debut Album "Reunion" has just been released, also on Ki Records. It is a hugely expansive record that frequently shifts gears between driving rhythms and endless soundscape. Fejká developed a sound with a rich sense of song-craft & melody alongside his ambient deep-house foundations, and we’re happy to hear one of his album tracks in this mix.
