I have been collecting records since i was 17 and started dj'ing at 19,i had a regular weekend slot at The Blackboy Inn East London playing rare groove and jazz funk with early rnb.using one turntable and a headset made from a converted bakerlite telephone..summer months were spent spinning tunes down on the thames at chertsey..everyone in the carpark jamming.. I then had a chance of a two hour slot on virgin records instore radio/ studio in oxford street six days a week in the late 80,s.job done and it was this that enabled me to craft my skills as a dj on the turntables...before moving into the house scene and the underground/ warehouse partys.Some of these were amazing events and to be part of them was and will always be very special.....lots of grinning, happy boys and girls dancing untill the sun comes up... I then opened up a record shop and small instore studio which allowed dj's and mc's to put down demo's etc aswell as a weekly internet radio show.
.   .For me the early 1990's to 2005 had the biggest impact on the dance music scene and in my opinion dance music has lost some of its individuality due to to mass flooding of commercial producers/labels.
Saying that there are some great dj's  and producers around who still mange to create a wiggle your butt move your feet set / track. Long live house music !!!
