something from my vinyl collection-very rare, almost impossible to find LP from PGP RTB vault. Arian is Albanian from Skopje who released this elusive LP in 1981. There are no traces about this release anwhere on the internet. The album was recorded in New York, and contains 8 songs. Actually, the correct number is 4 because songs on the B-side are the same as on the A-side of the record. The only differnece is length of the tracks and they were sung in Serbian, unlike the A-side whisch is in english. 
Very interesting fact is that all of the songs were written & arranged by Hubert Eaves III (from D-Train, Gary Bartz NTU & Mtume fame). Pure disco funk treasure!!!

it was april 1984. when the guys from the demo band Cannibal Fru Fru got into the studio to record their first single. With the mixture of brit jazz funk, new wave and breezy pop sounds they knew they can't be wrong. This is the one of their 2 songs which were hidden on the tracks somewhere in the studio until yesterday. Members were: Vladimir Djelic-Chile (rhythm guitar), Dejan Skopelja - Skopi (bass) (U Skripcu, Rambo Amadeus, Baby Doll, Kristali, Babe...), Nikola Filipovic (synth), Dusan Godjevac - Godja (vocals), Bojan Zulfikarpasic - Bojan Z (keyboards)  (famous award winning jazz pianist, now living in France) and Nebojsa Visnjic (drums). Shortly afterwards, due to many things the guys couldn't avoid (like going to army) the grup split. This song, along with the other one "By The Way" will be available soon for the first time ever on my forthcoming compilation "Idi, igraj! vol.2- More funk, soul, jazz funk &amp; disco from ex-Yugoslavia compiled by DJ Funky Junkie"!

JIRI KORN-Akrobat

Trivalia was a band from Niš, Serbia. This is the track from their 1991 7" "Dat rosa mel apibus". Released od independent SKC Niš label and printed in "Jugoton"Zagreb, the vinyl is now sought after amongst record collectors. Trivalia actually was one of the first bands who played dark &amp; gothic sounds in ex Yugoslavia. Later they experimented with EBM and disbanned in 1992.

Another fav of mine I couldn't find on youtube. Very unique and specific version of Antonio Carlos Jobim's classic. Dexter Gordon (tenor sax, vocal), Kenny Drew (piano), Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen (bass), Espen Rud (drums) and Karin Krog (vocal).

KARIN KROG & DEXTER GORDON-How insensitive

This song (I close my eyes) is a B-side from the one and only, now very hard to find, 7" from this Croatian band. Released in 1982., they were one of the best new wave/post punk bands in former Yugoslavia. Due to many circumstances and events, they released only this single. Leader of the band, Sasa Zalepugin Jr. was a son of then famous TV moderator Sasa Zalepugin Sr.

ARIAN-Luduj sa mnom

DJ Funky Junkie's career began way back in 1985. when he started his weekly radio show on "Radio Nis" along with his friend, DJ Mixmaster. The show lasted until 1988. In 1989., FJ started to play music in then famous Symphony club, and from that moment on up to these days he spins his records & CDs in clubs & venues all over Serbia, neighbour countries and around Europe.
With almost 25 years of experience under his belt, and many records in his huge vinyl collection, it is fair to say that Funky Junkie is one of the founders of a contemporary club scene in Nis & Serbia.
Despite the fact that he plays progressive, tech house & electro on most of his gigs, he never forgets his roots. As a great fan of funk, jazz funk, soul, disco funk, brazil & latin music, nu wave, post punk he collects vinyls which are kept in his respectable collection, and this is the music he likes to play most even today alone or with his friend DJ Ceka The Boss as a part of notorious "The Funk Soul Brothers". There are many DJs who have rather major influence on his career, to name some of them: Francis Grasso, David Mancuso, Nicky Siano, Larry Levan, Walter Gibbons, Bobby Guttardo, Danny Krivit, Francois Kevorkian, Ron Hardy, Frankie Knuckles, Gilles Peterson, Paul Murphy, Patrick Forge, Kevin Beadle, Dr. Bob Jones, Keb Darge, Grandmaster Flash, DJ Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaataa etc. (to name just a DJs, not the bands & the producers). Considering Serbia, the greatest impact on him had DJ Bane and original "Disco 13" DJs from the 70's, then DJ Brkica & the crew from "Muzicki klub '81", and of course DJ Nenad Mitic from "Symphony club". It wouldn't be fair not to mention DJ Chile (and THE ONE & ONLY "Soul Food" club in Belgrade), who is "guilty in charge" for FJ's love for all kinds of both contemporary & vintage black music.
The proof of his musical diversity was a legendary cult one man radio show called "Tripovanje" (Trippin') which was broadcasted firstly on "Belle Amie" radio back in the 90's and then on "Fast Radio".
During all these years he was behind the decks with many famous DJs and played opening acts for many bands from Bob Sinclar and Hernan Cattaneo to The Brand New Heavies, Gilles Peterson and Paul Murphy, for example. To name all of them would take a lot of place & time. Unfortunately, we do not have enough of both :) Funky Junkie is also a promoter and alongside his good friend and great DJ Acim he organized many great events in Nis.
In summer of 2010. he released widely acclaimed bootleg compilation "Idi, igraj!-Funk, soul, jazz funk & disco from ex-Yugoslavia 1969-1987 compiled by DJ Funky Junkie" which got massive feedback from many famous producers and DJs from USA, Japan, Europe etc. and earned almost cult status among them.
In 2011. he made remixes for Beatfanatic and Valique along with his friends, and recently he is about to promote the third and the last part of "Idi, igraj!" compilation and touring all over Serbia and abroad.
You can still see and listen to him playing live all around. He is a part of "Selected DJs" team, still trying to preach the gospell of music and spread the positive vibrations everywhere. The story of Funky Junkie continues...
