Music to take you off to the outer reaches... Crisp studio mix from label owner PHD and MC DRS circa 1999. Perfect combination of deep atmospheric ambience and melodies, tough beats, rolling basslines and DRS's lyrical stylings driving the vibe forwards...
PHD had a cache of wicked tunes (some still sadly unreleased) that never quite had the same exposure as the rest of the GLR camp but stood tall in their own right. Some exceptional music makers feature on this mix as well as appearing across the Ascendant Grooves release catalogue. One of those mixes that has never dated and still gets regularly aired. I was fortunate enough to receive some records from Spirit's own collection, from someone who had been sent them by Digital. 

I felt that it would be fitting to present them for all to enjoy by way of a mix, just over an hour of music that reflects the various facets of Spirit's production style, along with that of his long time collaborator and friend, Digital.

Day two take's us on a journey through the sound of the legend that is Omni Trio, with the second mix in the drop from Southampton based DJ/Producer Moakz

With releases on labels such as Soul Deep, Omni Music, Liquid Drops and his own imprint Codename: RCRDS, Moakz's debut album 'The Critical Path', showcases the artist's 'cinematic jungle' sound in full length for the first time, drawing on influences as diverse as film scores, soul, jazz, post-rock and techno for a warm, deep and often emotional take on drum and bass / drumfunk. The album releases on double 12" vinyl and digital on 6th June 2025. 


Moakz chose Omni Trio as the artist for his mix selection as follows - "Rob Haigh's music has had a massive influence on me since my teenage years, and it was really enjoyable putting this mix together.  I'm a huge fan of his work, and digging once again through his deep back catalogue it reminded me that there really is no such thing as a bad Omni Trio tune.  So many timeless tunes - I hope people enjoy this mix".
