Colorado Run Wrap Up Mix

Well here we are again… The Summer of 2011 is coming to close and its been another one for the books. Its amazing to sit outside under the stars at some of the best events the world has to offer and I feel blessed that the majority of them go down here in the Wooded Mountain areas of California! California Festivals and Campouts are world renowned and there's a reason for it. A whole culture and people surround themselves in it every year from Early Spring to Early Fall. They just don't attend the events but help make the events what they are. One can't help but feel that this must have been what the 60's were like to some degree and feel the love and community that is brought together by them. 
That beautiful radiance it comes from all the people, the wonderfully Earthy surroundings and of course that fantastic music that comes thumping from those large Sound Systems! One can't help but be inspired by the congregation of ideas and culture. Its such a wonderful mix. 
This mix of ages, art, culture and of musical styles is what inspired me to make this mix. This is not just a dance mix but something that you can hopefully share with your Mom and Dad, kick back a brew or light up a stoggy, sit back and just listen.
Why I made this mix?
After this awesome summer of events and festivals I'm always in the mood for some Live music. Luckily for me there is a ton of awesome Remixs that have come out whether it be from this year or years past. All of them gave me this awesome idea to make a mix that sounded like you were at a concert hearing a new type of dubstepish rock band play these songs live.
I added in some crowd samples and even some samples from Woodstock to add to the "bringing it back" feel while still keeping it current. There's just so much good music out there that I felt that these songs deserved to be displayed together in this way.
I hope you enjoy this mix as much as I did in making it.

Minds Mix Volume 1

At one point I think I would have said Sunrise Sets were my speciality. I take them pretty serious its a great time to connect with those that are still awake and those in attendance seem to be most open to something different. As artist / DJ it allows me to dig deep in my proverbial crates to play some of those tunes that you just can't play at any other time. 

When asked to play Sunrise at Organic Fest on the main stage I knew I had to take it. I was honored.  

It was amazing. 

After playing i came home and decided to record the mix that i played out there while it was still fresh. 

I had my friend Tha Fruitbat master it and now I present it to you. A brief glimpse of a moment that can take you back to that very special weekend out there in the woods of the Sierra Nevada mountains.

A tribute to the Summer of 2010 performed at Memories
Well summer has approached, stopped, sat with us, and is now casually starting to move away. The sun is noticeably going down earlier and coming up later. Temperatures have been moderate so far this summer and has left us with a very pleasant summer feeling. Not too often do you wish it was a little warmer during summer here in Sacramento.
This years warmer season has definitely carried more weight with me. 
My mixes are always a reflection of my surroundings as well as my inner feelings. This summer has been very emotional for me. Loosing Arnie Benson in the beginning of the summer was tough, he was a dear friend and a great community leader. Watching my Design Office get dismantled through several Company layoffs to the point of closing the office,(luckily I've been moved to work from home). Add to that not being sure where I'll be living next month. The owners of the house I live in like many other owners right now have foreclosed on the house. I might be able to stay, I might have to move. Definitely feels like a trying time, but with all the hills, comes some valley's too. 
As the Stilldream 10 Year approached I found myself at some of the best events that one could ask for, with some of the best people one could ask to be around. Tons of wonderful great memories at events like Harmony Festival (Santa Rosa), Gemini (Area101), Cherish (SF) Lightning in a Bottle (LA), Flowr Powr(Sac), FnF 15 Year (NorCal), The Boom is Back (outside Portland), Dude Where's My Tent 2 (Michigan), Karma (Reno) and the Stilldream 10 Year Anniversary. Its been a pleasure to watch friendships and bonds grow stronger as we add another years journey to our lives. Its also been amazing to see all the growth as a culture we are experiencing, lots of awesome expression going on out there! Keep it up everyone, its beautiful!
Stilldream turning 10 Years old, was watching a dream come to reality. Just thinking about the joy of that event makes me want to roar at the sky, grab my nearest friends and family, and thank life for this beautiful existence that we have the opportunity of experiencing. All the ups and downs, gives us major perspective. Be thankful for what you have. 
The outdoor season I always find myself playing more progressive music, whether it be progressive house, trance, breakbeats, techno.... you name it. If its progressive, the outdoor events make me just want to bring that sound; tough and deep. This year was no different except that I'm stepping out of what most consider for me as normal. This summer the music I found the most inspiring was the progressive, heavy and yet uplifting Dubstep sound it just resonated with how i felt.It pulled at me, the heavy breakbeats, grinding basslines, introspective and uplifting melodies. Being tough and dancey while still being chill, the best of both worlds?
This mix was put together over the weekend while at Memories 7,an event dedicated to remembering through celebration the people who have brought joy and inspiration to all of us. 
This set I dedicate to everyone I've had the pleasure of sharing some of this very special summer with. Whether we were standing side by side, on opposite sides of a field at the same festival or on different sides of the planet. These are the days we will talk about in the years to come.Embrace them.

Keeping in tradition this mix is nothing like the last mix I put out.

Actually there's about 3 mixes that i have just sitting waiting to be finished but you gotta go where the flow takes you and well Halloween inspired me this year and I just sat down and banged this one out. So this isn't what I usually play, some of its a bit harder then I usually go but that's the beauty of doing themed type mixes. It allows you to go places you don't normally go. 

I Started compiling these tracks a few years ago. I love Halloween and well i love doing Holiday Mixes so it just made sense to make a mix of a bunch of scary, dark, hard songs that tie into that Creepy vibe of Halloween. 

I Played a lot of these tracks at the 6th annual Beetlejuice 2012 in Sacramento. Sold out crowd. It was an amazing event everything from the crowd, vibe and sound just kicked ass.

You ever hear so much of one music that your brain starts to twist them and remix them in the background of your life. Like a faint wind that only you can hear. Every year I feel this way about Christmas Music. Always wanting to work on some sweet Christmas music remix's but by the time I have time, Christmas is already here and gone and so leaves that ever present background of music that floats along with you.
This year with the expansion of the Stilldream Xmas party, it has morphed into something much bigger then I ever dreamed it to be. With the addition of Atom ONE from National Entity and Tim Manas of Lite Brite we all brought an amazing event to life called "Jingle Your Bells". With close to 1000 people in attendance including Good Ol St. Nick, we were able to celebrate Christmas, the Holidays and the wonderful spirit with so many people for not just an event. It really felt like a giant Christmas Party with all the friends. The Vibe was heavy in the air, the music was pumping on four corner McCauley Stacks, the decor was something out of the North Pole and those pulsating brilliant lights! It was quite the sight to be seen. Purely Amazing, so much fun!
This mix is more of an impression of music I love, combined with music I like to play. Its not supposed to be the best mix of the year. Some of the tracks could only be found in lower quality. I did my best to beef them up but you can only do so much.
This mix is supposed to be FUN! Something to put on and remember that Holiday spirit with. This is a just a small gift from me to you. Thank you so much for listening, your support is truly appreciated.

This company in the last 20 years has thrown numerous parties / festivals, as well as brought to California ears the unrelenting and mind boggeling sounds of Dillon Francis, Odesza, Big Wild, Tipper, Hybrid Sound System, Joker, Mark Farina, Bassbin Twins, Uberzone, 12th Planet, Doc Martin, Heavyweight Dub Champion, Medicine Drum, Chris Liberator, Aaron Liberator, Julian Liberator, and Dustin Zahn. 2011 brought G.A.M.M.A. to the forefront of the Northern California Electronic music scene opening for such acts as Tiesto, Steve Aoki, Porter Robinson, Borgore, Excision, Le CastleVania, Zeds Dead, Antiserum, Designer Drugs and Figure to name a few.

Respected and revered by all, G.A.M.M.A. has had the privilege over the years to spin alongside such legends as Dave Ralph, Judge Jules, Uberzone, Bassbin Twins, Doc Martin, Dave Dresden, Bassnectar, Freq Nasty, Vibesquad, John Selway, Dj Dan, Dylan Rhymes, Misstress Barbara, Claude Von Stroke, Danny the WildChild, Donald Glaude, and D.A.V.E. The Drummer. With well over 500 parties/events to his name, (including Burning Man 03/04/05/06/08/09/10/11, Symbiosis Gathering 06, Give Thanks 2009, 2010 & 2011, Summer Love 2009 & 2010, Stay Up Forever, Memories as well as numerous residencies in California and Oregon) G.A.M.M.A. still makes each night seem like the first.
