As promised, a recording of my set in the Secret Party Room at this year's Tidy 30 Weekender! This was easily one of the best (if not THE best) Tidy Weekenders I've ever attended... it worked a treat at its new home in Great Yarmouth and out of all the sets I've ever played at the Weekenders this one is probably my favourite. I decided to get the happy tunes out for this one since it was Saturday night, and it was amazing to see that Secret Party room fill up within 5 minutes of opening! Thanks to all of you who were on the dancefloor for this for making it such a memorable one. Hopefully we'll all be going back to Great Yarmouth for many more weekenders to come!

General Bounce @ Tidy 30 Weekender, Great Yarmouth - 26th April 2025

Happy bank holiday weekend folks! I've just recovered from another amazing 8 days in Corfu for Unity In The Sun so here's a live recording of my set for the hardcore & hard dance pool party, one of 3 sets I played this year representing my very good friends at Juicy. A few of you missed this one as it clashed with the old skool boat party, but if you were there for any of my B2B sets with Ryan Walker you will definitely have heard some of these tunes. Lots of big uplifting summer anthems and a few trademark General Bounce backdoor bangers ;)

It's always a pleasure to be a part of Unity In The Sun even as a punter,  so thanks once again to all the crew for having me back to play for the fifth year running, and also for putting on such an amazing event! So on 7th March I was lucky enough to be asked back to play for Rejuvenation in Leeds, which is by far my favourite event in the whole country, so I've re-recorded my set from the night for you all! It's been bloody ages since I've played some of these tunes and the Rejuve crew are easily the best crowd to play them to. Some proper Rave On / Parlez Vous anthems on this along with some newer old skool flavoured stuff! 

Thanks to Si & Suzanne Frater for making me a part of Rejuve's birthday shenanigans for the second year in a row, and for just being awesome people in general. And of course everyone who was on the dancefloor for my set (special mention goes to Lisa Pin Up - she was the first HH DJ I ever saw live so it was ace to swap sides with her over 20 years later)!

General Bounce is West Yorkshire based DJ and producer Dave Gray, who has become a prominent figure in UK clubland playing hard dance, bounce and house.

Obsessed with dance music from an early age, Dave has been an active club DJ ever since he turned 18 in 2001, starting on the local club & bar circuit playing everything from house and speed garage to trance and hard dance, before finally settling into the hard dance scene in 2005 with a residency for Shock in Wakefield. He quickly became known for his widely-influenced and versatile DJ sets, combining as many elements as possible from the genres he loves. When Shock ended in 2007 Dave began making regular appearances on the Northern bounce scene, and over the next 4 years Dave was privileged to play at venues such as Wigan Pier and Doncaster Warehouse. Hard dance remained a passion of his during this time, and in 2007 he came third in the Parlez Vous DJ Competition.

Things came to a head in 2010 when he was picked up by the Cheeky Tracks brand as a resident DJ and producer. Dave held a residency in the Cheeky Tracks room at Rave On in Leeds for the next 2 years, and since then he has become a regular face behind the decks at hard dance and bounce events nationwide, performing at prestigious events and venues including the Tidy Weekender, BTID, Frantic, Storm, Rejuvenation and many more.

Since taking his first steps as a producer in 2006, Dave has had several solo and collaborative releases, collaborating with both established producers and new artists on the scene, co-producing some of his collaborators' first big hits and even being played on BBC Radio 1. To date Dave has produced over 50 tracks which been supported by some of the biggest names in hard dance, such as Hannah Laing, Kutski, BK, Rob Tissera, Technikal, Andy Whitby, Anne Savage, Amber D and Lisa Pin Up. His collaboration with fellow hard house producer Rick James “Ibuleve” was featured on Hannah Laing's exclusive DJ mix for Spotify in 2022, and his last solo release “House Trafficking” topped the Toolbox Digital Shop store chart for over a week. He has also collaborated on a UK hard trance track with his idol Rob Tissera, called “Get Up Stand Up”.

Dave is an ardent believer in playing all genres of dance music, exposing his audience to new sounds and making his sets as varied as possible. Through doing this he has developed a trademark sound of vocal, uplifting rave music that's both tough and fun. Dave's passion for all genres of music runs deep, and so does his collection. This earned him a residency at Void in Manchester's gay village - an afterhours venue where he regularly played 3 - 4 hour sets of upfront funky and vocal house, through to the lighter side of hard dance. Dave was a resident for the whole 6 years of the club’s lifetime, and played the final set there on his birthday in 2020, when Void closed its doors for good. He continues to spend most weekends DJing for various events nationwide, and since 2021 he has played annually at the Unity In The Sun festival in Corfu. He also hosts a monthly podcast showcasing his label's releases as well his versatility as a DJ. 

In 2012 Dave went from being a Cheeky Tracks artist to co-owner of the label, and took full ownership of the brand in 2015. Under his ownership, he has established the label as one of the biggest selling independent labels in the hard house scene, consistently appearing in the top 10 across several download stores. 12 Cheeky Tracks releases were rated Hard Dance Tune Of The Month in Mixmag from 2014 to its final print edition in 2020.

Over 22 years after his DJ career began, Dave is showing no sign of slowing down and continues to go from strength to strength.  Whatever path Dave's career takes, you can be sure he will continue to do play music the way he believes it should be.... happy, uplifting and stomping!
