🌎 Playing in European summer 🌞  comes with different challenges than in deserts or on a tropical island. The weather humbles you an requires patience and much more prayer. Climate changes doesn't always do the job to heat the scene up, so you have to do the job plus trust and surrender. Minutes before the outdoor dance clouds looked angry and stubborn. But with the first dancers arriving clouds broke open and gave light and warmth to the place & hearts. Thats what trust and prayer may effect. It became a great dance that honored the set topic of "I werr narrisch", the Austrian expression for I go crazy, borrowed from a famous soccer commentator. Everything is connected, isn't it :P Enjoy! 😊

♥️ Some weeks ago I was kindly asked to join the 1st Ecstatic Dance Festival of Poland. Due to reasons I hesitated, even resigned, then was asked again and said: "Let's do it!" Trust pays off. 
🌳 This event was such and fusion of nature, great ambition, awesome artists and beautiful people. For four days I forgot about other places and I just was. Enticed. Present. Happy. Fulfilled. 
😊 Such sharing and sooting time. The world dance tribe is growing clan by clan.

THE ONE WHO SEES (1st ecstatic dance festival Poland 2022 - 08 - 20)

Recorded live at Conscious Dance Sedona on October 1, 2022.

The evening took place at Ultimate Light Mission on Saturday night. A newly refurbished venue with beautiful hardwood floors, light projectors, an elixir bar, and a good feel. The same building that used to be 7 Centers Yoga Arts. The very place back in 2007 where I took my first of many Yoga Teacher Training. Which forever changed my life.

It was then in that month-long training that I began my journey of daily yoga practices with a new outlook on life.
It was an honor to share a dance practice and music that I feel is so healing and expansive for all who try it, in a building where I had experiences that help shape who I am today.

I dedicate this mix to my beloved teacher Ruth “Shradha Sagra” Hartung. Who’s teachings of Yoga, Ayurveda, and Astrology inspired me to be who I am today. It was she who gave me my first in-depth foundational teachings to guide me on a lifelong journey. A path I walk today.

This set is made of almost entirely brand new music which came out within days or at most weeks from the event. With some remixed classics and mashups of well-known favorites.

This mix is eclectic. With slow medicine music to start making its way to the first peak of some remixes of well-known American songs with the whole second wave full of bassy bangers leading to the second peak of mashed up oldies but goodies.

Featuring brand new tracks by Temple Step Project, Deya Dova, El Buho Music, ATYYA, Yemanjo, and Barrio lindo.

MOVING CLOSER (ECSTATIC DANCE AT BERLIN CONSCIOUS DANCE FESTIVAL 2022)

♥️ Imagine a Sunday morning ... you took over for a dear Ecstatic Dance DJane and fellow human that obviously believes in you and your skills. She asked you two days before to step in for her. Your wake up after a long week, sleep depleted, your face crumpled like a dried apple, but you know there's no way back. You have just some hours to prepare. 
But you walk in your morning sun, ☀️ signs of bliss are in the air, your sound technicians try sth new, and the whole crew realizes the sound is like sunbeams drilling gently into your heart with every sonic expression, the bass is like a rain of heavy feathers and massaging you thorax profoundly.
 
And then the people arrive, get warmed up perfectly by a great body boiler as @irene, and you find your dough well prepared to 🔥 bake the bread  🥖  till it jumps in the oven. 

Dear people, I have played for six years, since 3, with absolute dedication and a lack of resistance. But this dance rewarded me for all the waiting, doubt, and disinvesting in overrated tracks and times spend in excessive amounts.
 
 The dance floor was boiling, the eye contact I had was full of heartwarming and approval, and the smell of sweat was the most minor proof that we do sth pretty right here. When you as a DJ really become one, when you put on a tune, you love, and you almost grow the impression they there on the planks would make even more enormous sacrifices for it! RESPECT! GRATITUDE! JOY! THANKS TO ALL DANCERS! 

I will continue this journey, no matter what! 🤘

Again and again, the journey 🚀of carving a set surprises me. The mix evolves daily like a barometer of my contemporary time and space 🪐. I take a week, sometimes two, and decide on a particular topic or energy ⚡️ to pave the road for the tracks to be assembled. And then things flow, stumble, return, stay on the roadside and invite other tunes to be added.  🏜Landscape, climate and people I meet or avoid alter this process. And then comes the moment to surrender, where I know I am not doing the mix 🧪. 
The mix is doing me; I am just the catalyser, the executing channel. Over and over again, there appears to be a mythical connection between the human brain 🧠, music 🎶 and the universe itself, as if you juggle sonic structures and the stars reply enigmatically, yet not overlookable anymore.

The DJ: "I am pretty worldly, literally. Theres so many emotions you can feel where I come from, but I find them in this music from around the globe and they delight me. Then I spend more than a decade in Berlin, listening to English Break Music, had a fling with latin stuff and adore experimental rhythms and sounds and allow angels voices to kick ass. Got it?"

When I made extensively or let's say ecstatic use of music for workshops on conscious sexuality, I felt one-day certain sounds resonate strongly with certain sensations and physical activations. 

Putting even more focus on music became the next step to apply music to support exercises on self and body awareness as well as catalyze moments of hold or letting go. Then Ecstatic Dance arose at the horizon, and I got even happier.

I spread my musical focus to music from sounds from all over the world with a focus on soul, nucumbia, dance, afrolectro/afrotronics, oriental, african tribal as well as the fusion of traditional ethnic music and new musical concepts. 

To sum up what I love so much about it: moving people. Inside as well as outside.
