PREMIERE – Alan Strani - Le Pacifique (feat. Tessa Martin) (Bordello)

Sand had blown over the deep footprints that followed them for several miles; hopefully they could still find their way back to camp without the markings. The weather had become more and more extreme, grains of sand blinded them and lodged in their throats as they fought their way through the wind, it made it difficult to make out the shapes of the dunes and the trees around them. Suddenly something came into view; a huge towering sculpture that felt incredibly alien against the landscape. Maybe it was just a mirage or a figment of their imagination, but it seemed to be looming closer and closer casting an unsettling silhouette against the dark sky. 

Samo Records open their doors to a new batch of artists for the fourth edition of their annual compilation series. Just like the titles of each instalment suggest - so far we've had Sphere, Spiral, Cube and now Polygon - the music comes in all different shapes and sizes, giving a snapshot of the influences that the label hold dear. For 2022's outing, they bring together several artists including Virtue Signal, Jack Carel and Gem Wallow, who offer up their own dark, psychedelic takes on electro, EBM, machine funk and leftfield electronics.

Time to Play Records strikes back with a new 4 tracks ep, late night club-ready, with heavy bass-kicks tracks straight to your chest.
Filippo Tazzer, label manager and executive producer, continues in his search for underrated talents, enhancing his talent, musical sensitivity and evident production skills. After having entrusted the baptism of the label to Reekee and Colosimo, the moment is propitious to introduce another Italian Producer:
Phonorem, fresh with a new album called “Algorythm”.
Phonorem production skills in those 4 tracks embrace different styles forged by his 90’s hip-hop and drum and bass roots, by mixing synthetizers and drum machines with samples.

SEAMLESS, the track that gives the EP its title, is a deep-house track with double bass - bassline and atmospheric scenarios by manipulating old Italian movie soundtracks samples.

PREE, is a downbeat track which made homage to DJ Premier beats, with some melodies created with a Chinese hammered dulcimer.

FLIP DOWN gives a high contrast experience: fusing a raw drum machine rhytm with dreamy pads and a mysterious vocal.

LOW FAT is a heavy bass kick track with some sythetizers-melodies with a story to tell. With a happy end.

This fifth EP in the Steve Rachmad re-issue series contains a colorful combination of three tracks from different releases. Side A brings the sought after track 'Teknitron', originally released on his 3rd EP, originally released under his short-lived alias Black Scorpion back in 1995. 'Transpose' is taken from his first Sterac EP from 1994, while the last tracks 'Alastria' comes from his second album Thera, originally released in 1998. All tracks are re-mastered of course.

Steve Rachmad’s richly melodic strain of techno has resulted in a huge body of work he has been growing since the early 90s. His sound is the perfect distillation of machine soul – dubby atmospherics and crisp, danceable dynamics balanced in perfect unison. Amsterdam’s Delsin Records gathers together some of the Dutch techno figurehead’s most important, sought-after works in a new EP series, all remastered from the original DAT tapes from Steve’s archives. Hell borrowed the title for his second proper album from the Giorgio Moroder supergroup of the '70s, so it's not surprising that Munich Machine looks to disco culture for its starting point. But of course, that's only the starting point. Munich Machine is a varied collection of acid, techno and house that marries Hell's vision of acid-electro to an assortment of straight-ahead dance tracks and a few truly odd covers -- including a stunning remake of the Barry Manilow chestnut "Copacabana" and a reworking of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" with the lion replaced by a dominatrix. It's not exactly a commercial venture, but Munich Machine occasionally possesses the flavor of a retro-disco record like Daft Punk's Homework. - Text by John Bush
