D.Vices is a project of Jack Coleman aka JAK, a DJ, producer, organizer and live performer based in Portland, Oregon. Launched in 2020, the project delivers a mutant blend of electro, breaks, techno and bass. D.Vices draws from Jack’s 25 year immersion in rave and dance music culture, shaking up a wide range of influences and turning them inside out to create a new sound that’s both distinctive and familiar. Jack Coleman (aka JAK) is a DJ, producer, live performer and organiser based in Portland, Oregon, U.S.A. One of the Pacific Northwest’s leading ambassadors for quality techno music, he’s performed globally, organised innumerable events, and released original music on Trapez, Northern Parallels, Illegal Alien, Resource Records and more. His trax have been remixed by the likes of Mark Broom, Bryan Zentz, Noncompliant, and JGarrett.

In 2019, Mixmag named Jack’s SubSensory event series one of Portland’s best parties. Since 2021, his nascent electro and breakbeat project, D.Vices, has repeatedly hit #1 on the Beatport electro top 100 charts. 

This 74 minute, 27 track DJ session features a mix of percussive and raw techno heavily mixed and blended in Jack’s signature style.

US artist Jack Coleman aka JAK based in Portland has been playing and producing techno music for a while now. Jack's original tracks and remixes have been successful with the DJ community. His tracks were remixed by the likes of Mark Broom, Audio Injection, Adam Jay and Angel Alanis. And he has done remixes for the Detroit Grand Pubahs and Space Djz. JAK is a true DJ and his tracks are made to be played out. He's headlined events in Tokyo, Osaka, Santiago de Chile, Seattle, San Francisco, Las Vegas and LA, and his DJ skills have recently been highlighted on popular techno podcast series including Droid Behavior’s D-Node podcast, Detroit-based podcasts from Blank Code and Dystopian Rhythm and the Torque podcast from Japan.

Despite the fact that JAK comes form Portland you can hear tons of Detroit roots in his music. Juggling and funky sequences and an all present deepness attest for a lot of knowledge in the genre. His opening track "Cyclo Drive" works the machines in that manner, still keeping the rough and dirty edge which stands for an authentic techno feeling.

"Brazen" revives the distorted kick drum and adds manic sequences in the speed of light, which all adds up to a piece of "soulful techno experience". Imagine gallons and smoke fluid pumped in a basement with strobe as the only source of light. Nothing can beat this! 

"Reconcile" starts moody and quickly plunges in to a 303 acid theme, all classic all smooth… maybe more of a house tune than a techno one.

"Aphasia" unites Detroit house and Detroit techno in a joyous and uncomplicated way. It is a true vintage track, for all who know the origins can enjoy the influences to be laid down here in a plain and authentic way by JAK.

The first remix comes by Raíz. The Los Angeles based brothers, Vangelis and Vidal Vargas have performed worldwide. Their connection with Drumcell enabled them to develop their label, production group and music collective Droid Behavior. Raíz have released music on labels including Electric Deluxe, Historia Y Violencia and their home bases Droid and VRV.
Raíz remix of "Cyclo Drive" has the industrial strength of Harvey MacKey and the grittiness of A. Trebor and therefore fits perfectly on this Trapez release. Enjoy the heavy spiritual language of Raíz.

Bryan Zentz is a name everyone knows who has been into techno since the early days. We are happy to have him contribute two remixes. The first one being a soulful 303 remix of "Reconcile" almost a bit 808 State like.
The second one being an acid grundge remix of "Reconcile", with a dark nice old school flavor.

Release info: Jack Coleman, aka JAK, is a multifaceted techno artist and pillar of the underground scene in the Pacific Northwest U.S. and his hometown of Portland, Oregon. 

His past releases on labels like Northern Parallels, Illegal Alien, Trapez and Resource Records have been supported by some of techno’s biggest DJs.

The Caution EP melds JAK’s lifelong love of sci-fi storytelling and big, driving techno into the high-concept techno tools Caution and Body Scan.

90 minutes of electro music recorded live in July 2025 at Forest Friends, a private campout held in the wilderness outside of Portland, Oregon. 

Centrikal (Patrick Frye) is a DJ, producer, and event organizer (Nu Habitat, 23L3CTRO) who specializes in electro, with a background in house and techno. His production and DJ sets showcase decades of experience, including collaborations with artists like DJ Slip and Freaky Chakra. His music has been released on labels including SubSensory, Particle Music, Peloton Musique, Radda Records, Innerflight Music, Nude Photo Music, bleepsequence, and his own An1mlz Music.

D.Vices (Jack Coleman, aka JAK) is a DJ, producer, organizer, and live electronic music performer from Portland, Oregon. D.Vices draws from Jack’s 20+ year immersion in rave and electronic music culture to create a mutant blend of electro, breakbeats, acid and bass. Since launching the D.Vices project in 2021, he has released a series of chart-topping tracks on labels including Particle Music, Alien Breakdance, Resource Records, and ZEN DNA, as well as a limited vinyl release on Detroit’s RWYS Records.

U.S. label SubSensory marks 100th release with LP by techno act JAK.

North American label SubSensory’s 100th release features Atomic Lines, the first-ever full-length album from label boss Jack Coleman, aka JAK. 

JAK is a producer, live performer, DJ, label boss and promoter based in Portland, Oregon. His originals and remixes have appeared on labels such as Trapez, Advanced (Black), Translucent and Illegal Alien. 

Mixmag recently named his long-running SubSensory event series as one of Portland’s best parties. During his 20+ years as a DJ, and more recently as a live performer, he’s performed in locations ranging from his hometown to Detroit, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Santiago de Chile, and more.

"Atomic Lines" represents the culmination of a decade’s work with SubSensory. In addition to work by JAK and other Portland-based artists, the label has featured the likes of Audio Injection (Truncate), Adam Jay, Angel Alanis, Noncompliant, JGarrett, Jon Rundell, and Dj Seoul from Detroit Techno Militia.

The LP also reflects JAK’s recent shift toward live performance. Most of the album was developed out of his 2019 live set, which debuted at Minneapolis’ celebrated underground party, System. The LP ranges from the title track’s low slung techno funk, to the atmospheric vibe of “Atmophunk” to the high octane grooves of “Epica,” There’s even a touch of acid house on “Acid Space.” While the tracks vary, they share in sleek production, classic techno influences, floor filling rhythms and plenty of JAK’s signature acid sounds.
