After an incredibly successful 2020 and the release of label-head Toronto Is Broken's third critically acclaimed third album "Clare", YANA Music continues their momentum into 2021.

2021 brings a fresh aesthetic and batch of artists for YANA, beginning with young UK-based producer Corrupted Mind. First featured on last year's YANA2020 album, Corrupted Mind returns with his first of many solo singles on the label, the heavyweight "Disengage".

A straight soundsystem-shaker, Corrupted Mind manages to incorporate jump up and neurofunk flavours into his dancefloor sound, not only showing his versatility and broad range of influence as a producer, but also offering something new to the YANA Music camp.

Clocking up almost 700,000 streams on Spotify alone for his work as a Bassline producer, Tengu takes his first steps into the world of Drum & Bass with his first single on YANA Music.

His first ever drum & bass single, "Ready for the heat" brings a dark and melancholic intro, with big chords swells reminiscent of classic jungle and drum & bass tracks. Despite being his first foray into the genre, Tengu is no stranger to the sound as the drums and bassline hit with ground-shaking impact.

[A] Perplex - The Monster:
Perplex returns fresh from featuring on NVR077: Intrusion EP, although this time the Bristol based favourite returns with his own 5 track EP entitled The Monster. Opening NVR079 is the title track itself, with spooky pads & ghostly screams commanding the intro, before an increase in the intensity to create a monstrous drop reinforced by massive catchy baselines & sharp rolling drums. As the track evolves the drums start to intensify & the lead synth kicks in, so the track can reveal its true nature as an assertive dancefloor heavyweight, ready to cause some serious havoc.

[B] Perplex - Are You Ready (VIP Mix):
Having been released as an album only exclusive on NVR076: Drum & Bass Anthology 2020, Are You Ready gets its full release having been remastered & given the complete VIP treatment. Centred around the vocal sample that inspired the creation of  Are You Ready, the track progresses with euphoric synths & a catchy melody before transcending into a huge high energy drop. Featuring a bouncy baseline, tight drums & escalating risers all culminating in this a fast paced dancefloor classic.

[C] Perplex - Hit Em Like This:
Hit Em Like This draws inspiration from Perplex's love for Dance floor & Jump Up Drum & Bass, by combing all the classic elements of each sub genre & wrapping them up in his own unique style. With an intense build up that drops into hard hitting catchy bass sections & bouncy drums, before the track evolves & the trance style synths fade into the background, to create a seamless transition to the breakdown & a short letup from the relentless assault of this monster of a track.

[D] Perplex - No Backing Down:
From the intro No Backing Down begins in an eerie Military style, reminiscent of armed forces preparing for invasion. Continuing the theme, the marching drums build as the track reaches the drop, before the lead vocal emerges to set the tone for what is about to come. Climaxing with a huge multilayered baseline lead, the track ascends into a devastating Neuro & Tech influenced stomper, delivering some serious punch which perfectly lends itself as either a set opener or double drop smasher.

[E] Perplex - Shit's About To Go Down:
Closing the EP, is a rudely named & skanky Jump Up influenced Drum & Bass track, to complete this diverse release. Inspired by the vocal sample that was the foundations behind the idea, Shits About To Go Down drops hard with snappy drums, huge basslines & a funky synth lead, that all contribute to this dance floor commander. As well as being a stand alone track this one is also exceptionally DJ friendly & lends itself to creating big double drops within the mix.

This March, Dutch drum and bass connoisseur Maztek returns to his very own label, 0101 Music, with the whopping 28-track compilation The Blacklist Rewind Catalogue.
Showcasing a mixture of releases from his formative years – dating all the way back to 2012 – and previously unheard VIPs, the new LP serves as a timely primer to the Haarlem DJ/producer’s extensive musical arsenal.
Included in the package are every single one of his past drops on revered label Renegade Hardware, including 2013’s M Theory EP, the critically acclaimed debut album Three Point Zero (2014) and a tagteam remix of “Limber” from late legend Optiv and Brazilian powerhouse BTK, all of which have proven to be fan favourites over the years. With some of these having previously been absent from streaming services and primarily available on vinyl, both die-hard followers and newcomers alike are in for a treat.
First landing exclusively via Maztek’s Bandcamp back in December, this essential collectors’ item has since been fortified with an additional three brand-new VIPs: a slinking reinterpretation of the choppy 2013 neurofunk triumph “iMaz”; a gritty, stuttering overhaul of the 2012 Subculture signing “Up & Down”; and a snarling spin on one of his best-known hits, “From the Shadows”, which features vocal contributions from local hip-hop heavyweights Dope D.O.D.
With Maztek known today not only as a musician but also as a label boss and preeminent purveyor of high-quality D&B, it’s a timely opportunity to reflect on his musical journey up to now. The Blacklist Rewind Catalogue LP lands 15th March via digital vendors and streaming services.
