Almost exactly a year prior to Matt and Gabby's wedding, when I was in the midst of a severe depression and just coming to terms with my struggles with alcohol abuse, I received a text message from Matt and Gabby asking if I would DJ their wedding. I felt honored, nervous, and humbled in that moment. Reminded that I was loved at a time when I had very little love for myself. 

In a lot of ways, the past year has been extremely difficult, and yet, at the same time, it has been one of the best years of my life, made possible in no small part by the love and support that these two amazing people have always been so generous with. Matt and Gabby were some of the first people that I felt comfortable opening up to about what I had been going through. I felt such a huge relief after telling them, and of course they received me with the utmost grace and compassion.

It is hard for me to put into words how extraordinarily moving it was for me to mark my one year anniversary without alcohol by being able to give the gift of music in celebration of the love of two of my favorite people in the world. And I hope at least a fraction of this comes through in the set :)

My main motivation for putting all of this out there is to honestly share my experience and hopefully demonstrate for others that there is no shame in seeking help, like I did. Please do not hesitate to reach out if anyone is interested in chatting about this stuff – my door is always open.
