DJ Jurr introduced the concept of Lounge Music and played a key role in popularizing it around the year 2000, starting in Amsterdam and spreading to other countries. In 1999, he became the resident DJ at the iconic Supperclub Amsterdam, widely regarded as one of the most spectacular venues in Europe. Together with his brother, DJ Roelove 74, he helped shape the unique musical identity of the Supperclub for over a decade, contributing to the success of the entire Supperclub CD collection.

His musical journey began 19 years ago at the age of 15, when his techno-influenced style earned him bookings throughout the Netherlands alongside major names such as DJ Isis, Sven Väth, and Dimitri. Over time, his sound evolved, shifting toward house, with strong influences from ambient and trip-hop. This evolution naturally led him to the lounge genre.

DJ Jurr performed across Europe, Russia, Turkey, Bulgaria, and Israel. In 2002, he began producing his own music, starting with "Le Rasta" featuring Barbara Power. His tracks were featured not only on Supperclub compilations but also on international lounge collections, including the MTV Lounge series.

After years of living the fast-paced DJ life, Jurr stepped away from the spotlight and returned to his hometown of Leiden. For some time, he distanced himself from music—until a gentle nudge from his best friend brought him back to the stage at the Healing Garden Festival. That performance rekindled his love for playing music, and Jurr slowly re-entered the scene, performing in selected venues in Leiden and Amsterdam. The scene embraced him once more, and he eventually became the resident DJ of the Healing Garden Festival, where he found renewed joy and purpose behind the decks.

In February 2025, DJ Jurr passed away at the age of 48.
He will always be remembered for his exceptional ability to tell stories through his sets. Jurr had a rare talent for blending old and new tracks into seamless narratives that came to life on the dance floor. His music was more than sound—it was emotion, movement, and connection.

Those who knew Jurr will remember him not only for his musical brilliance but also for his gentle spirit and warm personality. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those he touched and in the timeless music he left behind.
