Bislang gab es für den DJ hauptsächlich zwei Darbietungsformen im Club: Das klassische Set als künstlerischer Mix fremden Materials. Oder den Live-Act mit Maschinenpark. Was es bisher noch nicht in aller Konsequenz gegeben hat: Dass ein Künstler nahezu ausschließlich mit eigenen Studioproduktionen komplette GIGs bestreitet.

Genau diesen dritten Weg geht Rother mit seinem neuen Label Studiophysik. Studiophysik ist ein Reservoir selbst produzierter Tracks, die speziell für die anstehende Clubnacht produziert werden. Getragen von der Energie des aktuellen Abends werden die Stücke dann bis zum nächsten Event im Studio ergänzt und variiert. Für Clubbetreiber und die Gäste bedeutet das: Sie werden Teil einer exklusiven und unwiederbringlichen Nacht mit immer neuen Rother-Techno-Sounds.

Anthony Rother dazu:
„Für mich ist dieser Ansatz die perfekte Symbiose aus DJ-Set und Live-Act. Ich kann meine Vorstellung von zeitgemäßen Techno kompromisslos umsetzen, ohne auf viel Fremdmaterial zurückgreifen zu müssen. Gleichzeitig bin ich nicht in Spieldauer und Soundset limitiert, so wie es bei einem Live-Act naturgemäß der Fall ist. Schon jetzt bin ich imstande, mehrere Stunden lupenreinen Rother-Sound auf die Clubbesucher loszulassen.

Ein weiterer Vorteil: Ich kann mit dem Publikum, wenn auch zeitversetzt, in Dialog treten. Denn wenn ich von einem Gig nach Hause komme, bin ich so energiegeladen und voll mit neuen Ideen, dass ich mich sofort ins Studio setze, um sie umzusetzen. Dieser Energiefluss, da beständige Geben und Nehmen, macht für mich einen wesentlichen Reiz des Konzeptes aus.“

To date, there have been mainly two forms of DJ presentations in a club: The classic set as an artistic mix of unknown material. Or the live act with machinery. What has not truly taken place yet: an artist performing gigs almost exclusively with their own studio productions.

It is precisely this third path that Rother explores with his new label Studiophysik. Studiophysik is a reservoir of self-produced tracks that are made specifically for the upcoming club night. Carried by the energy of the current evening, the tracks are then supplemented and varied in the studio before the next event. For club owners and guests this means: they are part of an exclusive and irrevocable night with new Rother techno sounds.

Anthony Rother:
"For me, this approach is the perfect symbiosis of DJ set and live act. I can implement my idea of contemporary techno uncompromisingly, without having to resort to a lot of unknown material. At the same time I am not limited to the playing time and sound set, as is naturally the case with a live act. Even now I am able to play several hours of flawless Rother sound to the clubbers.

Another advantage: I can enter into a dialogue with the audience, even if that results in a time delay. Because when I get home from a gig back home I'm so full of energy and full of new ideas, I immediately put myself in the studio, to implement them. This energy flow, as constant give and take is, for me, an essential stimulus from the concept. "

Another one from the Sims archives for the lockdown crew, don't think this went public before but i could be wrong.
It was recorded in '99, to cassette, and the tape just says 'Party Mix' on it, although i know for sure it wasn't from a party (unless just me, my bestie Sosa, Reggie Redstripe and some Benson's in the dining room of a shit house in Essex is a party..ha ha).

Anyways, it's kinda cool, lots of classics and faves amongst early Hardgroove material and standard late 90s flavoured trickery.
