2023 has been one of Speaker Louis’ most prolific years to date. Month after month we’ve been bombarded with dispatches on labels ranging from Hyperactivity to Program, Deep In The Jungle to Jungle Cakes, Dub Shotta to Liondub International.

More music is set to follow before the year is out, too. Releases from the Frenchman-in-London on the likes of Four Corners and Fokuz are imminent and plenty more is planned moving into the new year.

To mark this moment, and reflect on his journey so far, we asked Speaker Louis (who’s real name in French does actually translate to Louis Speaker) for a mix and jumped on a call for an interview to find out more about where he’s at, how he got here and where he's heading.

Every now and then I have the itch to mix. No plan, No vibe to go on, no "end result" involved. Just a mix to enjoy the music I'd already be listening to but in a more "involved" way. Something about mixing tunes and the way two separate things can become one new thing. Also a great way to relax after a day of school hence the name I'm rolling with for #branding purposes lol

Anyway, here's a mix I recorded last week. I picked the first track and just rolled out till I got tired of the cat bugging me for attention ✌🏿

Also, this is very much a non-consistent thing so don't expect it to roll like a radio show or show up weekly. Random and spontaneous is the name of the game. Streams and the usual will still be happening as (un)usual.

More often on mic, Vispera has returned for Full Spectrum to the decks. Since stepping onto the scene a couple years back, she has been making a name for herself and her visceral, poetic MCing style.

 Having made her professional debut at Full Spectrum's 2nd Birthday event, Vispera has since hosted rave spaces up and down the country and earned residencies in Bristol, Birmingham and Manchester. 

While lyrically focused, it was through Saffron’s Mix Nights course that this artist learned to DJ, she’s not quite forgotten how to just yet. Bringing together shades of minimal, jungle, skat, soulful, even jump up, her mixes are an ode to the kind of music she loves to host. 

New releases are on the horizon next year, keep an eye out for upcoming Vispera tunes and have a listen to her latest selections in the meantime.
