We are thrilled to have legendary Chicago House and Downtempo DJ and Producer Mark Farina kicking off his new monthly “Mushroom Jazz” residency here on OpenLab! 
The first episode is a downtempo adventure inspired by a late 90’s trip to Ibiza. Don’t miss out:

"Somewhere around 1999/2000, DJ Sneak and I arrived in Ibiza, but our luggage, including our vinyl crates did not. We spent the next 36 hours driving back and forth from the Saint Eulalia area checking for our vinyl after every flight with our airline. This was pre-cell phone era, so communication was sparse at best. After at least 6-8 trips back and forth, they arrived on the last flight possible to have records for our gig. I'm a huge fan of Mark Farina's Mushroom Jazz series which was a large inspiration behind this project. In some's opinion he has turned Mushroom Jazz into a genre of its own. This is my tribute to Mushroom Jazz.

This is the live recording of my opening set for the night along with special guest, your mom's favorite DJ, TURTLE BUGG (Sublimate) and super talented residents Andy Grant, Katrina Mir & Ramirez for a night of underground warehouse grooves powered by the presidential Grand Ancestor Sound System and Bozak "Audio For The Soul".  First time ever played some downtempo stuff on Bozak rotary mixer with isolator and the Grand Ancestor Sound System and it was pure bliss.  Hope you dig and share :-)
