A few months ago I posted a simple and short Instagram video where I played the main keyboard line from Bizarre Inc.'s "Playing With Knives" on my keyboard. Rusty Belicek of All Good Funk Alliance had the idea to flip it into a 100bpm hip-hop track. He did a version. Here is mine.

Easy Fire (DJ Love Remix) - 2014

This a remix I did for Fab a few years back that is finally seeing the light of day. This was one of the funnest remixes I've worked on and very proud it's finally coming out this Spring. Since I like this one so much and I'll shed a few notes. This was the first production I ever did with full vocals, however, I only used the vocals from the original stems. I slowed the track from about 170 BPM down to 130 BPM and wrote and played new music. There are two guitar tracks, an organ which is improvised throughout, a clav, and some live and looped percussion. There are several layers of breakbeats as well. I wanted to give it a live band feel.

For several years I have been thinking (and talking) about doing a freakbeat/surf rock style set of songs as a homage to the 60's sound. I got fascinated with the sound several years ago and did a bit of research on the acts and music that came from this genre. It influenced me to grab my guitars and try something similar. I was presented with the gift of the entire Beatles collection several years ago and the early music was also a push to try something nostalgic. This is the first attempt. While it's not exactly a departure from my breakbeat sound, this is definitely different than what I'm used to putting out.  There are several guitar tracks layered with some classic organ and a heavy backbeat. It's quite simple, but fun. The title is from the ongoing theme which is based around skateboarding  updated from surf music. This song is dedicated to Dana Hammonds.

Blapps reached out and asked if I'd like to do a remix. I gotta say I feel very fortunate to be asked to re-lick "Don't Hold Back". Blapps Posse (along with Freestylers) were one of my biggest influences from the early 90's hardcore scene. Amazing mastering by Timewarp Music.

This is a remix I did for Fort Knox Five's funk track "Sax Pusher". This was a lot of fun and the first time I did a remix that centered around an instrument as the soloist. All I used from the original was the sax. I added the scratches and the organ solo in an attempt to give it a live jam feel.
