Back in 2012, before he started his SUPERMODULE project, LUCAS  released the track 'NOW & ZEN' on Chinese based label Goa Productions.  It contains the voice of RAJA RAM being interviewed back in 1970 talking about his Ashram when he was in the band 'Quintessence'.
Fast forward a decade >>> and those marvellous but mischievous MANDELBROS (Lucas and Celli) have teamed up with their old friend Riktam of GMS in Ibiza to remix this psytrance classic!

Lucas' Psytrance Radiozora New Year mix 2013-14

TIP Record’s DJ/Producer Lucas O'Brien is back with the sequel to his highly acclaimed, chart-topping compilation 'Avant Garden' (2015) which features a selection of tried and tested sonically diverse tracks by some of his favourite artists that he's been playing in his DJ sets worldwide.   

For this project, Lucas sourced music from what he considers the most cutting edge, pioneering producers on the scene - Hallucinogen, Raja Ram, Ingrained Instincts, Outsiders, Laughing Buddha, Martian Arts, Earthspace, Audio Unit and Everblast - as well as being substantially involved in the production side himself under his various guises: 'SuperModule' (his solo project), 'Mandelbrot' (his project with Celli 'Earthling') and 'Sybarite' his project with Ric Featherstone.
The compilation begins with one of Lucas' trademark introductions, once again collaborating with label founder Raja Ram.

Designed to tickle the eardrums and get your body moving, Avant Garden II represents the flow of a psychedelic trance dance party by kicking off with a slower and groovier vibe, then building up the pace and intensity steadily as the album progresses... eventually reaching a more night-time style peak, whilst still keeping Lucas' characteristic funky element in the tunes.  Towards the end of the album, the music transitions into a more dawn friendly style to land you safely onto a blissful cloud of psychedelia. 

As was the case with the first Avant Garden, Lucas used the exquisite artwork of TIP favourite visionary artist Brahma Templeman, this time commissioning a painting exclusively for the cover which illustrates a beautiful psychedelic garden.  Open your mind, body and soul and enjoy!

Finally, from the depths of time emerges a new 1200 MICROGRAMS track, this time joining forces with those two cosmic warriors LUCAS (SUPERMODULE) and CELLI (EARTHLING), collectively known as MANDELBROT.  
In fact, ARTIFICIAL INSANITY is a track that features a particularly potent gathering of maestros.  Along with RAJA RAM, RIKTAM, LUCAS and CELLI, a surprise guest appeared in the studio to merge and lyserge... a certain Mr SIMON POSFORD (HALLUCINOGEN/SHPONGLE) who joined us on synths to provide an electronic lubricant that baffles the senses and stimulates the neurones.  
You'll even find a pinch of DOOF magic in there for good measure in the form of the classic riff from his 90's hit 'DOUBLE DRAGONS'.
So let's get 'higher than the eagles' and blast to the sound of ARTIFICIAL INSANITY!

It's become a kind of tradition for many years now for Raja Ram and I to make a collage of sounds and samples as an intro to the Stash Bag series as well as some other albums on TIP, including my own.
It's always an immensely fun session in the studio together.  This time I weaved a collection of new and old samples and recorded Raj's live flute, putting smatterings of it throughout the intro using strange effects.  Hope you enjoy it!

UK based DJ and producer Lucas O'Brien has been rounding up dancefloors and rocking them in the right direction since he started playing funk, soul and hiphop back in the mid to late ‘80s.   Never shy of mixing up styles and genres, acid house, new-beat and techno started to creep into his sets as he started to get requests to perform at respected London clubs such as The End, Heaven, Club UK and Fabric.  

Lucas loves nothing more than having a dancefloor in his hands and working the right grooves to suit the occasion.  His knack to read a crowd and his vast experience has found him performing an array of different styles of music at many world famous institutions such as the V & A museum, the panoramic top floor of the Tate Museum of Modern Art and to a star-studded dancefloor opposite the diplodocus at the Natural History museum for the Harry Potter 3 premiere after-party. 

His trance-infused psychedelic techno music was found to crossover with the sounds being played in Goa in the early 90s… and it was this that led him to an opportunity to play at some of the early, now legendary, TIP parties hosted by Raja Ram.

Today, with three highly acclaimed chart-topping albums ‘GOD SAVE THE MACHINE’, ‘TALES OF HEADS’ and his most recent album ‘CONFESSIONS OF A SUPERMODULE’ - under his artist alias ‘SUPERMODULE’ - Lucas is recognised as one of the world’s leading psytrance DJs representing RAJA RAM’s label TIP Records globally with his unique, driving, UK psychedelic sound.
Lucas has toured extensively over that last three decades performing in over 50 different countries, and he shows no signs of slowing with his touring stretching as far afield as Europe, US, South America, Africa, Middle East, Asia and Australia.  

The same can be said for his studio productions with several exciting collaboration projects in the pipeline.  He has been working with the artists Eat Static, G.M.S, Hallucinogen, Youth, Iridian, Ingrained Instincts and Illumination to name but a few.. plus he recently released the best selling sequel to his hugely popular compilation series AVANT GARDEN.  
His new project with Celli EARTHLING, called ‘MANDELBROT’, has already been tearing up dancefloors worldwide after several high profile live sets including the main stage at OZORA Festival, BOOMTOWN, MUNDO DE OZ, UNIVERSO PARALLELO and BOOM festival.

Going back to his roots, Lucas has been working on a techno project with the respected techno/house/breaks producer Ben Coda as well as writing downtempo psy-dub music with Ric Featherstone under their moniker SYBARITE.

Known for setting dance floors alight with his diverse quality sounds and masterful mixing, he has become a firm favourite at prominent clubs and festivals worldwide.
