I wrote ‘Joy’ as an expression of gratitude to the people I love; my girlfriend, family, and friends. They’ve been by my side through the coldest and darkest moments; through my grief. My last single, ‘Better days’ represented the transition out of winter into spring. ‘Joy’ represents the summer, a time to share happiness with the people I care about the most. They are my Joy.

Welcome to the 16th session of Blocaus podcast.

For Fiedel the three main musical influences are Electro/early Hip-Hop, Acid house and the Hard Wax record store in Berlin Kreuzberg. He started to DJ publicly in the mid 90s on Monday’s at a club called Subversiv, which then has been a constant in Berlin’s underground techno scene. Fiedel has demonstrably been one of the first DJ’s to play Electro in this context. Besides he played serious techno from Carl Craig, Jeff Mills, the Burden Brothers, Mathew Johnson, Monolake, Soundhack and many others. When the moment is right, he also plays Hi-NRG. As he puts hit himself : Music should not be pigeonholed. In 1996 & 1997 he released two EP’s on MMM with Errorsmith. Especially their track ‘Donna’ is considered a much played techno classic. Apart from his residency at the legendary Berghain/Panorama Bar, we can say one thing about Fiedel : he is no techno or house stereotype pattern, that you can put randomly on a every evening or club. He is lead by his history, the history of the music and the feeling of the moment to build something new and to capture this very moment. Let it be the straight dark techno of today, banging acid of the 80’s or an electro funk record, Fiedel surprises. He undermines and overrides expectations and refrains to limit the music for any reason. He lets the music speak for itself, through himself. Enjoy !

When considering his status as beloved and respected member of the contemporary Amsterdam techno scene, it’s sometimes easy to forget Dimi Angélis was among the founding members of the very culture that helped shape it. Promoting illegal raves and warehouse parties and putting his first needle on a record back when “underground” was still a definable term, Dimi now holds well over a decade of international DJ-ing experience. It shouldn’t come as a surprise then that this is directly reflected by his record collection, musical knowledge and technical ability which all easily match and in most
cases surpass that of many.

2014 sees the launch of ANGLS, Dimi’s first imprint, to release his own material. This will act as the platform where he can represent the throbbing, hypnotic sound of Dimi AngelisDimi’s list of played clubs and festivals is nothing short of respectably long and includes Awakenings, Kozzmozz, Tresor, Rex, Berghain, Suicide Circus, Doornroosje, Paradiso, Dekmantel, Welcome to the Future, Free Your Mind, Rockit, Mysteryland, Club One, Stubnitz and even the late Innercity.

Markus Suckut has established himself as one of techno’s greatest storytellers through his near 20-year career, known for sets that take listeners on a wide-ranging journey whilst straddling the line between dub techno and the genre in its purest form.

In 2017, through his work with Johannes Heil on the pair’s discerning Exile imprint, as well as a schedule that sees him spin across Europe, he shows no signs of slowing down either.

He lands on Andre Kronert’s ODD/EVEN imprint next month with his ‘Your Body’ EP, four tracks made up of the lights out techno that has become his trademark, ranging from minimalistic to acid.

For his DJ Mag podcast, Suckut has delivered an hour-long masterclass that shifts from a dreamy melancholy before working through to a measured industrial clatter - the perfect day-to-night set.

Bloody Mary is a French-born, Berlin-based vinyl DJ, producer, and label owner of Dame-Music, which she founded in 2010. Her forthcoming EP “The Synesthesia Experience” will be out 8th Sept on Ovum Recordings and
to celebrate the 7 year anniversary of her label, she’s putting out two V/A releases. Part one, released in June, features Boo Williams, The Analogue Cops, as well as a collaboration track between herself and Milton Bradley (aka Alien Rain), called “Tales from Space". The second part will be released later this year, and will feature Thomas P Heckmann, herself and a special guest. Bloody Mary continues to travel the world, rocking festivals and clubs as both a vinyl DJ and hardware-based live act across all continents.

I had the idea to start an own podcast series for quite a while now but I was a bit afraid to be honest. I wanted to keep it in a radio show format, as this is the format I grew up with and this was how I’ve discovered music. Also I wanted to do something different as I have a pretty wide range in music which I like. I get influenced by so many things so I thought it might be interesting for you to take this platform as the concept for a podcast. I will dig deeper and deeper through my collection of records and present it to you each month. It doesn’t matter how new or old the music is, it’s just about creating a good vibe to listen to, to enter another dimension.

Moreover the idea is also to invite guests, in irregular intervals - people I respect for what they are doing music wise and for the culture.

Music is able to lift you into other dimensions, so come with me through this portal and immerse into the depths of my record collection.
