Breaks ‘N’ Pieces turns in its fourteenth volume of killer breakbeat laced cuts, and this one is an absolute doozy from Roadkill co-founder and Manchester based producer 4TGang.

Following the releases of Sunset From The Garage, Needs and a killer remix of Subjoi, the emerging producer serves up six distinctive cuts that blend his liquid drum & bass influence with stripped back UKG tendencies and melodic textures. 

The garage re-rise is well and truly on, and 4TGang is at its forefront with his minimal, stripped back approach. ‘From Another Garage’ makes use of ragga samples, bright synths and precise percussion for an afternoon groover. ‘All Just’ ventures into darker territory, it’s murky presence giving off rainy, Burial vibes.

‘Piano Vibes’ is set up to dominate every outside situated soundsystem with a cut of early evening, loungey 2-step, before ‘Unpopular’ slowly pushes down on the accelerator as the moon shows its face and breakbeats sound across the sky.

The jazz-focused, rolling breaks of ‘Where This Takes Me’ sounds like something you might hear being performed live in a low-lit club in Peckham, before ‘Always Wanted More’ completely switches up the energy with pulsating, colourful cut of garage-house.

PREMIERE: 4TGANG - Always Wanted More [Cheeky Music Group]

Hot on the heels of two wicked releases on Lobster Theremin and SITU Records, London based producer Kempston Hardwick readies 4 bubbling cuts of summer jams with all the zesty twists of an ice cold radler on Distant Horizons.

Whilst his last releases on LT took a more UK-centred sound approach, DISTANT005 has you jumping on the first plane out of London and onto a white, sandy beach somewhere in the South Pacific. The skippy, bright beats of ‘Step With Me’ raise the curtain before the sounds of thes streets of Chicago take over on ‘Roxy’s Party’ - a classic cut of contemporary house that lends from the past while keeping one eye firmly fixated on the future.

‘Leonila’ sees Kempston take on a more experimental aesthetic; tribal drum patterns and vocal samples blend with bending synthwork and and the inspired calm that can only come from the sound of wooden instruments.

Bowing us out is ‘Cascade’, the most quintessential Kempston track on there; his distinctive take on house shining across five minutes of late-night grooves.

'It’s Good to Be Here’ is my debut EP, and it’s a culmination of 5 years of experimentation, toggling in Ableton, and learning how to engineer records. I’ve been a musician since I was a little kid, but I never really knew about audio production and engineering until some of my college friends were fucking around with beats in FL Studio. I always felt attached to that process, and when I finally made the move to producing my own music, it felt like a natural fit.

"Losing Time Alone" is the first single from the project, and it's a journey through proggy acid deviations and squelchy melodic magic that creeps straight through your spinal fluid. I wrote it during peak pandemic lockdown when I was feeling a bit of cabin fever inside of my Brooklyn apartment. Built for big systems and big headphones. <3

The second Bloc Dubs sees Stockholm groovemaster Ari Bald presenting a heavy 4x4 roller, followed by rising star Beth Alana churning forth a 2-step number full of grit and smoothness. Furthermore, we have Swedish wild card Diskotek+Apotek back for another round after receiving serious acclaim for their track 'All Gass' on the previous volume. They bring two new steppers each flavored with its own eclectic theme, flirting with soul and dancehall over a familiar signature sound.
