lavibe presents Latitude 0° 0′ 0″, a 2-tracks EP by French Gabonese artist Banga ((formerly known as Petit Piment).

Based in France, born in Gabon, the Dj/producer grew up and lived in Angola, Nigeria, Brazil, and fed her musical culture with all those influences, from Baile funk to Afro House or Kuduro.
Banga made herself known through her mix series and edits on Soundcloud and saw her music more and more supported these last months by artists like Sho Madjozi, Virgil Abloh, Diplo, Sango, Branko or Prudence.

Latitude 0° 0′ 0″ is an ode to the duality and complexity of the human being. It celebrates black and white, the slight border between masculinity and femininity, and everything that unites us in difference.Latitude 0° 0′ 0″ is the invisible equator line that makes the connection between Gabon and Brazil, but also the link between diaspora’s rhythms and club music.

Latitude 0° 0′ 0 is an introduction to Banga’s universe.

Matraca and Eck Echo, two labels run by Peruvians but operating on the different sides of the Atlantic Ocean (in Lima and Berlin respectively), join their forces to release a brand new compilation entitled 'Ukhu'. The upcoming album focuses on the contemporary Andean electronic music and will feature an impressive line up of producers from Colombia, Ecuador, Chile and more - including the likes of QOQEQA, Montoya, Malafama or Quixosis. Among them is Chilean DJ Raff, the mainstay of Latin American electronic music scene, who delivered this beautiful track 'Multinacionales'.

The label’s inaugural release – Club Djembe Vol. 1 – was a five track mini-compilation featuring KG, Bamz, Say3, DJ Polo & Lobby, and Dean Lyon. The second release introduced Colombian-via-London producer and DJ duo CXLI to the fold for a four-track solo EP.
For the third release and second instalment of the compilation series – Club Djembe Vol. 2 – the crew have brought together another group of their favourite artists and influences: from long-time label inspiration Hagan, LA mainstay Bianca Oblivion, and prolific London radio spinner DJ Tess, to local Bristol heroes DJ Polo, Wilfy D and RnB vocalist Pariah.
DJ Polo opens the compilation with the swerving funky house of Doldrums, easy chord stabs darting between taut drums. Following on from his recent EP on Jamz Supernova’s Future Bounce label, Hagan hits full producer-virtuoso stride with his contribution, Splash, which rolls from a lean-back bass groove into chords that’ll be sure to melt through even the tightest lockdown tension. Wilfy D enlists Leeds-born, Bristol-raised singer-songwriter Pariah for Victory, a stunning call-back to the golden age of UK funky vocal bangers.
Bianca Oblivion’s Calling takes the compilation from the socially distanced cook-out to the harder territory of the 2am live-stream, melding the saturated stomps of dutch bubbling house with a hypnotic vocal hook. DJ Tess finishes the release on a ravey high, carving a dextrous triplet-snare hook out of a stadium-sized intro with Veleno.

Bianca Oblivion - Calling

Sault´s "Black Is" album was my favourite album of 2020 and as I wanted to play out some of its tunes in DJ mixes for radio, I made a samba dub version of "Don´t Shoot Guns Down" adding Brazilian flavour to the original track . Samba, since it originally emerged in Rio de Janeiro in the 1920s, was always a source of joy yet often contained political lyrics dealing with current social and political issues. So what better groove format for my edit to enhance Sault´s original track which addresses the ongoing police violence against Black people.

Northern Italy, particularly Milan and the Veneto area have always been very open minded when it comes to new club sounds. Italy´s best tropical bass night, "Balera Favela" is hosted in Milan by Ckrono, Milangeles are stemming from Milan and Lamento has been founder of the "Muevelo o Mundo" club nights in the town of Bassano Del Grappa in the Veneto area. Many Man Recordings artists have DJed in clubs of this North Italian network.

Now Lamento, aka Andrea Campagnolo, releases his debut release on Man Recordings. A passionate record collector, Lamento has been digging music from the Southern hemisphere for years, particularly African wax. For his debut, he channels voice recordings from the Mongo people who live in the equatorial forest of Central Africa.

"Balama" comes with an all Italian remix-line up, including a tribally influenced remix by Lorenzo BITW, a UK funky inspired remix by Ckrono and a deeped-out trap remix by The Clerk.
