Dresden-based DJ and producer @AcidAdams collects four acid monsters, both from the glorious nineties and from a multi-layered present. The result is a record that dives deep into acid wonderland and bridges the gap between scene’s veterans and the new generation.

After Acid Adams discovered two forgotten acid tracks from the early nineties while digging for new music, the plan for this compilation slowly matured. While it was meant to be a tribute to every bird’s favorite genre, it shouldn’t be just a showcase for older tracks. Therefore, two new tracks were added to join the tracks by Nihilist and ADSX which have never been released on vinyl before. Each of the new productions is inspired by one of the older tracks, not in the sense of a remix or edit, but as a kind of homage to that particular squawking analog sound we all know and love. The energy and pace of these four unique tracks reaches from ambient to dance floor focused bangers.

According to the circumstances of scene and society at that time, the two older tracks were produced by (cis)men. That’s why, it was especially important to Acid Adams that the new tracks were produced by flinta* artists: softcoresoft is a DJ and producer from Canada, who has already released on Lobster Theremin. With Ida Bux, a native of Bautzen who now lives and works in Berlin, we connect the dots to a younger generation that is getting back into analog production setups. Both artists have in common that they have dealt extensively with the oldschool sound of the 90s in shaping their own sounds.

To round off the release properly, Saxony based illustrator frieedland has designed a matching sticker in the typical 90s style. And for those who can't get enough of acid: There's a digital bonus track by ADSX.

The title track on La Mano’s ‘Fabricca’ EP is a deep and evocative piece featuring heavy-duty reverbs, distant snares and gorgeous arp melodies. ‘Fabricca’ marks La Mano’s return to his Sound Du Jour label, following his 2021 ‘Tarvisio’ EP, which launched the label, and a remix for MAN 2.0’s ‘Synapse’ on the imprint shortly after. Since then, he has gone on to release on Mélopée and Tusk Wax, as well as a remix for Man Power on Me Me Me alongside work on releases with the likes of Andy Ash, Marcus Christiansen and Demetae via Sound Du Jour.

‘Fiume’ is up next on La Mano’s ‘Fabricca’ EP. It’s an ever-evolving dreamscape on an electro tip, digitised birdsong occasionally breaking through its vibrant layers of harmony. This is before ‘Onda’ closes out the release via rich pads, a gated vocal, and club-ready drums - it’s the perfect finish to another versatile and melodic offering on Sound Du Jour.

PREMIERE: La Mano - Fiume [Sound Du Jour]

In June, we will reach the halfway point of the year, and we will celebrate the moment in which we complete a project that we have been idealizing for a long time. A split between Discos Extendes and the label Lovers & Lollypops, puts side by side two of the most relevant and prolific artists in music made in Portuguese territory: Bruno Silva and his project “Serpente” and João Pais Filipe, Leon Marks and Valentina Magaletti with “CZN”. Two projects that developed in parallel, but with a mutual interest in the strength of the rhythm and the textures and timbral richness of percussion sounds. The similarities are undeniable. A mutual admiration, also.

"Hey this is Skwirl here to gab at you briefly about the records we have coming for our first thematic cluster! The theme is Circadian Rhythms and so as you might expect the records are presented to you by time of day. We have daylight hours, dusk, night and afterhours selections for you.

Our dusk record, “Supernatural Beast City” is by a gorgeous friend and a loveable nutter Ed Flis who hilariously goes by Duran Duran Duran. He's far too humble to say but he’s a bit of a breakcore legend and golly gosh we are lucky to have him.

This is balls to the face rambunctious progressive jungle stylings taking inspiration from anime, sunny beachside locales and the loveable filth of Berlin. I’m listening to SBC as I write this so if there are random interjections of heavy breathing, face gurning and egregious use of exclamation points you’ll know why.

There’s a lot going on here: kicking from the spooky alleyway slinking of “Salt Lamp” to full frontal (!) breakcore assault of “Just Feel It (w/Dev/null)”, looking off into the middle distance to catch a glimmer of the 90s in “94Rinse.out”… and that’s just the first side (and I’m not giving away all the tricks here…just go listen to it!!) Supernatural Beast City is at once pleasant and dire, playful and goofy, nostalgic and forward thinking, and all underpinned by serious amounts of b-b-b-bass.

For our 50th anniversary we present you three unreleased, hypnotic Acid-versions of PsychoPlasma „Forbidden Planet“, a tune that was recorded in 1994 and came out as 12“ on Tanjobi Records in 1996. We already re-released it on Forms & Figures a few years ago. These other three versions were recorded by Alex Krüger during one night and were based on the same bass- and drum patterns of the PsychoPlasma version from few days earlier that were still in sequencer memory.

At the time Alex was still working with an all analogue setup that was based around Rolands X0X series and cv/gate sequencers, so everything sounds very early 1990s, trippy, raw and was arranged and recorded in real-time on cheap equipment. 

Some inspiration obviously came from Laurent Garnier’s „Fnac“ label, that we know Alex liked a lot at the time.

From Harry: The time spent writing these tracks is reflected across the styles referenced throughout the project. I used a mixture of synthesis and sample manipulation to distill the energy of some of my more dancefloor-adjacent music. DJ-friendly yes, but still full of emotion, nostalgia, melody and texture. The six tracks cover a lot of ground thematically, but still manage to come together cohesively under the “in your feelings on the dance floor” umbrella. I had lots of fun making this EP and hope you enjoy it ❤️
