Leeds-based producer Krotone, takes the listener on a journey through the past, present and future of underground dance music, as he pays homage to his home city with Stranger, a 5-track EP on Of Paradise that traverses the outer limits of UK club music.

EP opener Just Can’t, is a stripped-back house track, powered by a raw and bouncy kick, flavoured with infectious vocals, whispering hi-hats and warm dub textures. Following this is title track Stranger, an intoxicating dose of swaggering club music that sits somewhere between off-kilter house and future-focused garage. Rolling kicks and wonky percussion are interwoven with sharp stabs and a vocal hook dripping with attitude.

Kicking off the B-side is Have You, an alluring and euphoric slice of early 90s rave nostalgia updated for 2021. Swirling pads, trademark drum work and another perfectly engineered vocal hook, all work together to capture the magic found in the heart of the dance floor. Progress pushes things into more tribal territory, with its raw, tight percussion, pulsating bassline and smokey pad work, that, when brought together, offer a moment of clarity in an uncertain world.



Rounding off the release is Resolute, a dubbed-out, spacey affair that employs bouncy kicks, rolling percussion and crystalline pads to maximum effect. A richly textured and blissful sign-off to an EP that further cements Krotone’s status as one-to-watch.

Precision engineered for RS Turbo systems and word-of-mouth basement raves, Stranger is a crowd-moving, yet intimate journey through the heart of the laser tunnel.

Banoffee Pies Records, in its eighth year of operating, hit the 20th release milestone in their Original Series. Joining the roster, Cairo based producer Hassan Abou Alam steps up with a 4 track solo EP entitled “Fasla”. A decisive selection of attitude packed wormhole bass lines and dark basement jams.

The A side was produced in a special collaboration with local artist SHBL-LBSH who’s vocal works feature across “Kesibt” + “Fasla”. The B side delivers sharp cutting synth lines in “Mawkif” and breakneck low end rumbles in “Hanshoof”. After a series of works on the likes of Naive, Not For Profit and Rhythm Section, Hassan fittingly joins the Berlin based, Bristol born label with more boundless sounds that slice through the fabric of styles that BPR have fostered since inception. The influences of the early 2000's early tech house scene are clear in Left on Para, a tasteful hypnotic roller which combines dubbed out vocals with a lurching bassline. Full release is dropping on 19th August, with only 100 records available worldwide, via the Out of Sorts bandcamp.'

There were sirens echoing in the streets, it was cold out on the corner. The darkness of the winter months was oppressive and at times overbearing but it did bring with it opportunity.

Every night they gathered beneath the glow of the streetlight, it was important to show a signal, a sign of life to those who watched on from above.

The cameras were everywhere, picking apart the very fragments of society with a dystopian lens and a pixelated vision.

They remained out there though, in the city, in the streets of a time not far from now.

Plus One digs deep for an earthy, heads down EP on First Second Label. This one is the perfect soundtrack for a lonely late night bus ride, the hazy fog of a city morning and the atmospheric hum of a concrete jungle.

Finnish-born, Scotland-based DJ and producer IDA launches
@savyrecords, an imprint dedicated to diverse sounds, with a focus on exploring the myriad shades of music in relation to emotion and art. 

Set to represent IDA’s unique taste, the new label will cross genres and push boundaries. Traversing the spectrum of techno, electro, breaks and other distinctive sounds, Sävy is a home for up-tempo, club-oriented music from both upcoming and established artists.
