Info: Superstar Silvestre strikes strong on Studio Barnhus, bringing moronic dance music and stupendously haunting ambient ditties to the forefront once again, following his highly reputable "It's 2024!!" EP, released in 2024.

On his most expansive and accomplished work yet, tensions between Silvestre’s many expressions – bass-faced rave maker, hazy lo-fi crooner, absurdist beat poet, etc. – reach catastrophic levels, resulting in an album that shimmers and convulses with both inviting warmth and that rare, essential hint of danger at the core of club music's spirit. 

There's just never a dull moment with this Silvestre guy, whether he's out blessing club crowds with electroid techno sets or effortlessly delivering instant classic albums like this one.

Widely regarded as one of the most uncompromising works in experimental noise, Kevin Drumm’s Sheer Hellish Miasma is once again available on vinyl. First released on CD in 2002 on the original Mego label, the album remains a landmark in extreme electronic sound and is an essential and ferocious document of Drumm at his most inventive.

The history of Drumm’s Sheer Hellish Miasma is one of resilience to the twists of underground trends that have come and gone since its initial release. Using guitar, tape manipulation, microphones, pedals, analog synthesizers, and subtle computer processing, Sheer Hellish Miasma is an overwhelming experience: a sonic onslaught of storming feedback, fractured textures and  an unrelenting energy. At once brutal and meticulously composed, the album offers a singular vision at the outermost edges of sound art.

For seasoned noise veterans, Sheer Hellish Miasma offers a bracing soundscape filled with exquisitely abrasive textures and more than enough hidden detail to warrant repeated listening – a distinct voice in the increasingly same-sounding world of abstract electronic noise. For everyone else, Drumm’s journey through the noisy underworld is likely to inspire fear or, in an optimistic case, fearful admiration. 

Drumm’s Sheer Hellish Miasma is an abstract noise classic with this 2LP reissue being an artefact of eternal power.

In 2013, Different Circles launched with Weightless Volume One, a compilation that helped define a new minimalist aesthetic in electronic music. 

Twelve years later and after a six-year pause, the label returns with its tenth release: Ping Volume One.

Like weightless, ping isn’t a genre. It's an approach to anchoring and propelling sound without relying on the steady pulse of a kick drum.

Instead, a single percussive hit — the ping — holds the centre. Dry and high in the mix, or echoing distantly through space, it becomes a temporal anchor. Around it, the rest of the track can undulate, bend, float or collapse.

The term first appeared on Mumdance’s radio show, where playing “the pingy ones” from the Different Circles back catalogue became a running joke. In the Discord community, it evolved into a shared language, with memes, lore and a mascot known as the Ping Devil.

In 2023, Mumdance aired The “Ping Report” a radio show that gathered everything into a coherent moodboard. It included original tracks made by Discord members for the show and set the foundations. From there, more producers began making ping intentionally, and over time, Ping Volume One took shape.

As the idea came into focus, Logos and Mumdance noticed that much of the Different Circles back catalogue, if not explicitly weightless, could now be understood through the lens of ping. It was a sound they had been drawn to long before they had a language to describe it.

Ping Volume One is a document of shared instinct. A collection of tracks connected by feel rather than formula, shaped by years of dialogue between a community of artists and listeners who were drawn to the same sounds & ideas before they had a name.

Celebrating our 10th release, Kiene brings some smooth dreamy vibes to the label.

A side - After All This Time - is an atmospheric jungle piece packed with floating pads, sharp intricate breaks, and dubbed out chord stabs.

B side - Closing the Distance - has a more minimal and introverted feel, rolling out super lush ambience over sparse and distant drums, topped off with flowing vocals and a catchy arp line.

We’ve got the exclusive first play of Kiwi’s ‘Cormorant’ which is taken from Correspondant’s new compilation. 

Label owner Jennifer Cardini has assembled an all-star cast of artists for the fourth compilation from the label including Man Power, Red Axes Javi Redondo, Axel Bown and Borusiade. 

Having released tracks for the likes of Duke Dumont’s Blasé Boys Club and Jack Savidge’s Deep Shit, Kiwi’s rise to the top has been unstoppable in recent years. 

As well as a host of well-received productions — including tracks like ‘Llama’, ‘Short Tail’ and ‘The Mara’ — Kiwi, real name Alex Warren, has found success on the London club scene too with residencies at venues such as XOYO and The Nest.

For ‘Cormorant’, Kiwi weaves chugging percussion lines against pulsing basslines and doughy melodies for a melancholic club-workout.

Harvey Sutherland’s latest 12” marks the inaugural release for Clarity Recordings, an imprint established by Sutherland for modern Australian records.

The first new music from the Melbourne producer since last year’s cuts for MCDE, the double A-side Priestess / Bravado features his live trio Bermuda at full tilt, with an ensemble of hand clapping friends. Self-described “lounge room disco burners”, the record summons the groove experiments of Patrick Adams, Bill Laswell and Arthur Russell, while retaining Harvey’s soulful tones and club-ready arrangements.

Priestess evolves slowly, a nine-minute mind dance that ultimately reaches a celestial state. Sutherland’s piano lines bounce off drummer Graeme Pogson’s unwavering four-on-the-floor, while one-man string section Tamil Rogeon travels skyward. Live standout Bravado is played with determined precision, locking into a tough backbeat that only breaks once Sutherland’s warbling lead solo approaches its resonant peak.

Geneva-based Pascal Viscardi has turned in a killer four-track EP for Traxx Underground. It's his second release on the Italian label and given his deft touch with samples and his choppy, almost NY-house style drums - it's not hard to see why Pascal's music is being played by the likes of Mike Huckaby, Fred P and Rick Wade.

The vinyl (no digital release)is due to drop at the end of October. The rest of the label back catalogue is also well worth a look.
