Hessle Audio welcomes Toumba to the label with the 4 track EP 'Petals'. Based in Amman, Jordan, Toumba explores Levantine microtonality, rhythms, play styles and timbres across the record. Lead track 'Istibtan' is a twist on a typical Jordanian wedding song with deep subs providing the foundations, complimented by crisp percussion and warm melodics.

Toumba is a producer, DJ and sound designer and is a curator at MNFA, a club and arts space in Jordan's capital Amman. A nationally respected artist, Toumba also holds a residency at the MMAG Foundation. The foundation works with a selection of the most gifted artists in the Levant, providing a space for artistic research, production and critical discourse.

As Pugilist, Alex Dickson has a rich history of fusing multiple genres to produce unique soundscapes that occupy the collapsing space between techno, house, breakbeat, and jungle. Extracting and distilling the crucial ingredients from each one and using them to conjure up rich sonic tapestries that are as vivid as they are intoxicating. With his debut EP for Of Paradise, entitled Negative Space, Dickson pushes his sound even further, serving up a masterclass in atmospheric club chemistry, purpose-built for a post apocalyptic world.

Featuring four deeply effective cuts caught somewhere between offbeat techno, lucid breaks, and swaggering bass, Negative Space is a four-track vortex born out of heat-soaked landscapes and executed with cold vein precision.

It was only a matter of time before Bristol’s most exciting purveyor of fast-not-hard atmospheric jungle landed on Time Is Now. Artificial Red - otherwise known as George Young - specialises in the genre’s softer side, with each release immersing its listener in transcendental worlds that seem at once mechanical and organic. Time Is Now Whte Vol.23 is jungle with colour - watercolour - each track stained with shades of orange, yellow, blue and green. Whilst some feature raw percussive techniques to give them a raucous, club-focused edge, others incorporate soulful female vocals and keep things minimal. London based producer Vromm creates some wonderful beat science and future electronic jazz vibes on his debut recording for R&S Records.

With a penchant for UK bass and beats culture that has influenced him since the late 1980s, Vromm has released a steady stream of EPs over the last ten years for labels such as Critical Music, Over/Shadow, ThirtyOne Recordings and Om Unit’s Cosmic Bridge imprint.

On ‘Red Tuna’, Vromm opens a magic box of crunching breakbeat rhythms, dubwise reverberations and cold & jazzy synth licks for an impressively intelligent and modern track that dips into many electronic genres and becomes something truly unique.

New sub-imprint of Rua Sound, SPHERES initializes with Rome-based artist Noroi for a dark and raw 4 track of deep jungle and break cuts. Based on the Irish west coast, the label aims to provide a home for the moodier side of the hardcore spectrum beyond its preexisting Foxy Jangle and Rua Sound stations. 

Noroi's 'Transoceanic' combines forceful breakbeat arrangements with gliding uplifting synth backgrounds. A real hot stepper of the big beat proportion, this one goes  off.

hree years after their first collaboration, culminating in the release of “The Passenger”, Om Unit and Martyn are back on 3024 with another four track exploration of tempo and vibrations on a new EP called “AJ^6”.

The two ‘veteran’ producers have been highly prolific over the past years, with Om Unit making waves with his massive Acid Dub Studies project as well as new work under his Philip D. Kick alias, and Martyn spearheading and mentoring a robust group of new musicians responsible for no less than five (!) compilations on 3024. What brings the two producers together in the studio once again is the constant hunger for new and interesting sounds on the outer rim of the ‘bass continuum’. Instead of tirelessly rehashing old tropes they are continuously inspired to write new music that’s both current as well as firmly in their aesthetic profile.

‘Basilisk’ and ‘The Trenches’ are great examples of the duo blending odd tempos with dub wise heaviness. ‘Basilisk’ has already been doing some serious damage on the dance floor with its punchy 107 beat structure and headzy breakdown, while the almost imperial march of ‘The Trenches’ introduces a bubbly bass line. ‘Illroy’ and ‘Dragonfly’ both inhabit a dreamier, more melodic universe and have a timeless, ambivalent quality to them, somewhere between a lost b-side of an early 00s Hospital Records release and something on Scuffed. My last single, ‘Better days’ represented the transition out of winter into spring. ‘Joy’ represents the summer, a time to share happiness with the people I care about the most. They are my Joy.
