One of the things Union Jack Records stands for and seeks out is music that carries a unique quality, something that will leave an impression on the listener and raise their heads at home, in the car or in the middle of a party.

Perhaps his residence in Bali, Indonesia is what inspires Spanish born Cleave Martinez to create drummy, moving bass lines with such ethereal qualities, but regardless of the inspiration his music that unique SOMETHING.

2015 has been a break-out year for Cleave leading up to this highly anticipated premier EP with Union Jack. He comes out of the gates on fire with a powerhouse EP, creating a unique sound in every track, each of which works throughout various parts of an evening or home listening. The sound will move you with as he describes a “atmospheric, melodic feel with a tribal touch”.

Whether you are looking for a floor filler like Nyepi with it’s dreamy melody and synth or a high energy peak hour track such as BoonKak, the EP is strong from beginning to end and will appeal to any DJ that loves to move a floor.

The EP is rounded out by two stellar remixes of BoonKak by Gil Montiel and Kapibara, both of them making a strong addition through their personal version of this track.

The shaker is breathless and it seems like THe WHite SHadow collected all pent up emotions in that song. We have “Last“ sounding really metallic and unique. A lot of elements fighting against each other to end up in a magic break.

My Favorite Robot/Cocoon mainstays Villanova ramp up for their first release on OFFwith two original tracks and an appearance by raw tech aficionado Echonomist on remix duty.
The French duo stray from their prevailing blend of sensual house, crafting a darker aesthetic fit for the label’s newfound coordinates. 

First up is Control, a restrained yet uplifting cut. The steady beat and pulsating bassline are kept at bay, creating a tense yet solid atmosphere. Polyphonic synths interlaced with metallic ricochets are key condiments that make their presence on the second track as well.

Divago sets off with techtronic synths and accelerating beats, gradually ascending and building up tension throughout the entire track. The relieving peak point is thus replaced by an exhilarating “hands-in-the-air” moment of maximum impact. 

Echonomist’s take on Divago is straightforward from the kickoff. Sectioning off original elements, and keeping the focus on bassline and percussion, the cut is reconstructed into an unrelenting late-night groove. The producer manages to imprint his biting style of thumping dark tech, in a rework that perfectly complements the inital composition.
