Here is a set I had a lot of fun putting together. Amapiano music has taken over the mainstream music space with a bang and it deserves this spot. With catchy percussion and rhythmic arrangement as well as hypnotising bass lines, it's hard not to move when the tunes come on. In an ode to this genre and to Afro house, the team at We are United have curated a new show dubbed 'Amapiano to Afrohouse' on BBC 1 xtra and BBC sounds app.

This is my set for the show. It's a mashup of the latest tunes from fire artists such as Kamo Mphela, Focalistic, as well as some old favourites from ThakzinDJ and kuduro bangers 'Pedicure' by Nadio Dance and much more.

Chuck Black is a multifaceted individual who has exhibited a true craftsmanship when it comes to his musical performance. As an observer of his own interior world, he has dove into various styles which he learned to love, from deep-house and house classics, to Afro-infused electronic beats. Rooted in his Cameroonian-French upbringing, he has packed on impactful rhythms combining powerful drums with ethereal, almost dreamy melodies.

As a member of the duo @cdfislove, Chuck Black is leaving a mark in every venue he has performed. As a solo act, he has appeared all over Europe, in Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Paris, and Prague to name a few and more recently in South East Asia.

South African trio Omagoqa are reinventing the sound of gqom for a new generation. Their SonarMix sees them follow in the footsteps of their friend, fellow Durban resident, and gqom pioneer DJ Lag with a mix that introduces the "rugged, percussive" style they call 'ISQINSI' to the world. Blending gqom's minimalist, bass-heavy sound with pop and electronic music, SonarMix 013 is a hypnotic trip into the Durban underground, and an invitation to "experience something you've never experienced before" at Sónar by Day 2023.
