PREMIERE - Sex Kino - Something Inside Of You [HEARec]

The Berlin/La Paz/Paris-based label Happily Ever After Recordings - or HEARec, for short - debuts on the premiere section of our platform with a bombastic release by Sex Kino. Established in Stockholm, the duo is formed by English producer James Brook (ex-Pardon Moi) and Swedish artist Josefine Larsson. Fusing Rock, Disco, and Folk, they have been producing high-quality material, being extremely welcomed at the Dark Disco/Indie Dance scene. The EP "Who Do You Love", released on Roam Recordings and remixed by Theus Mago (SXDNS056), Moisees (SXDNS112) and Alejandro Molinari (SXDNS160), and the single "We Have Ways Of Making You Dance", their opener on HEARec, are here to prove us right.  

From "Scream In The City", their forthcoming release, we handpicked the beautiful and enchanting remix of "Don't Look Back" made with love by French producer Fred Rodrigues-Carreira aka Back From The Wave. If the original is a frenzied heavily Indie Rock-influenced with more than 150 BPM, Fred's interpretation is a sweet and mesmerizing 110-BPM synthwave-ish theme. The powerful Moog bassline topped with dazzling melodic synth and lead layers turn BFTW remix undoubtedly one of the highlights of the EP.

Dusk had always been her favourite time of day, that moment before all the light seeped away and the darkness took hold. Every evening she'd make her way down from the house and through the thin towering trees that seemed to soar high above the clouds. Sitting on the rocks looking out across the water, she felt her worries dissipate and her mind become unburdened.

Stockholm-based duo Sex Kino are behind the first 12" from HEARec, a creative collective and label based out of Paris and Berlin. A debut release from the project, which consists of ex Pardon Moi producer James Brook and Swedish artist Josefine Larsson, the record was crafted in the forests of the Swedish archipelago and fuses elements of disco, folk, rock and new wave.

More of an adventure than a song, ‘Je Palpite’ spends its stately nine minutes roaming without restriction. Electro in texture, free in spirit, the worming bassline, harmonic percussion and sudden twists are held together by the provocative Français purrs of experimental, industrial-minded artist @ANGSTvorGRETA. Seductive, sultry and unpredictable; it’s another strike for the artist who’s on a battle to fight binary dance music.

Fresh from his collaboration with Curses on Dischi Autunno earlier this year, Robert Johnson’s Chinaski (@southofmouth) adds a little spiky, electroid attitude.

Javier Martinez (@javiermartinezmx) delivers us a strong EP composed of 2 originals tracks and 3 remixes made by AckerMan, Ludviq, and N.O.Y. After releasing a remix of the tune ‘Something Inside of You’ from Sex Kino and great material with respected labels like Esthetique, Nein and Rotten City among others, we welcome Javier with Paranoia EP on HEARec (@hearec).

The EP starts with the eponym song, ‘Paranoia’, with solid drums, thumbs, a tribal and hypnotic melody sets in. Subtle synths mingle with the paranoia and disturb the atmosphere before clearing and rising and sinking the listener into a frenetic and dancy sensation. The track is a mad rise which ends up dissipating in the frantic race of sounds which jostle in this piece.
