We are thrilled to have legendary Chicago House and Downtempo DJ and Producer Mark Farina kicking off his new monthly “Mushroom Jazz” residency here on OpenLab! 
The first episode is a downtempo adventure inspired by a late 90’s trip to Ibiza. Don’t miss out:

"Somewhere around 1999/2000, DJ Sneak and I arrived in Ibiza, but our luggage, including our vinyl crates did not. We spent the next 36 hours driving back and forth from the Saint Eulalia area checking for our vinyl after every flight with our airline. This was pre-cell phone era, so communication was sparse at best. After at least 6-8 trips back and forth, they arrived on the last flight possible to have records for our gig. To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Mark Farina's seminal Mushroom Jazz series, number 7 in my vinylcast series is a throwback to a time when Mushroom Jazz was a cassette series sold in record stores notably Gramaphone Records in Chicago.  I have a small library of Mark's classic cassettes and this is definitely one of my favorites. So happy I could share it on the cusp of the release of MJ8, Mark's latest proper Mushroom Jazz release hitting the streets July 22. Cheers and enjoy.

This Mixtape (The Pride Show) has been completed in loving memory of the late Christopher Tosney AKA Tozz 180 1972-2011. may he rest in peace!! these recordings are the last recordings he had to offer the world. known and remembered by many in the city of Leeds (UK) as a true Legend of Emceeing.
It was Tozz's wishes to release an album during his life time. unfortunately that never happened but now this has been made possible by his dear Friend/brother LSK (Leigh Kenny. the other artists who had the pleasure of working with Tozz 180 on this project were as follows: Metal Dog (George) Peace Wizdom 1, (paul Edmeade) Tenton (shane Fenton) Ranny Ranx (Ranford Romans)TD (Tomas Stuart) (Breaking the Illusion) MC Speedo (Faadil Broderick) KD Ranko and Zulu Monk One!!
