PRESS RELEASE

Breaking into the scene in 2018, Armenian artist Socko has made great strides as a DJ playing for the majority of clubs and events in Armenia, becoming very popular in his motherland. Opening his production account in 2019 on Pipe and Pochet, Socko is now signed to several influential labels including Behrouz’ Do Not Sit, Shango and down. 

Opening with two tracks featuring Romanian artist IV-IN, ‘Queen Is An Eagle’ a lowslung, nu-disco vibe saunters with bluesy vocals. Rubber band guitar licks and sleazy keys provide musical asides as the track gathers momentum midway before an oasis of a break and chunky conclusion. 

Next up ‘Ghost is Not Human’ continues apace with nuanced guitars forming the low end, and moody keys punctuating the sombre male vocals. Organ lines midway add energy and interest. Finally, with the vocal talents of D’Litte, the EP draws to a close with ‘Red Wet Dress’. Ticking clock percussion and sweet vocals juxtapose in the most delightful way as a disturbing mutated siren signals the introduction of bass and tension. A thoroughly classy and creatively complex debut for an artist on the cusp of worldwide notoriety.

A natural for stirring melodies, Berlin-based @samshure channels his all-around manifold array of talents into his new EP, „Mirage“, taken from his forthcoming debut album „Laconia“ on @stilvortalent. Shure says: „“Mirage“ is a collaboration with my father who plays the Oud lines in it. I had the main groove of the track ready in my Berlin studio and felt like it needed some acoustic element. „Kamala Bani“ was the first collaboration with amazing producer Cioz. We had the most fun working together in the studio and really enjoyed making the track. The track „Encanto“ is for sure a nighttime track with a mystical atmosphere. After the great success of Fanaya Part 1 being played and supported by Sebastien Leger, Hernan Cattaneo, Megablast, Rodriguez Jr, David Mayer, + many more, we decide to make more remixes of this wonderful tune.

For this reason this unique vocal track had to be remixed by Robbie´s favorites producers: Zakir and Fulltone delivering this fire remix package of magical sounds and emotional elements.

Fulltone remix appears as more dark emotional affair featuring space synth sounds always with beautiful music influence as always Fulltone does. We love his music, always quality deep edge vibes.

Zakir remix blown us aways the first time we listen, it has a powerful groove with stunning percussion, acidic bassline, trippy melodic arpeggios and vocal glitches that create a funny jammin story between the vocal and the groove. All around a great interpretation very different form the original.

Laconia features collaborations with fellow producers Cioz and Cook Strummer, as well as a special apparition by Sam’s paternal figure playing the Oud on Mirage. The tracks explore a diverse array of dispositions, from groovy up-warmers such as Mangata or Louna to more lively dancefloor aggregators such as Kamala Bani, on to the deeply polarizing, whirlwind synth dinger Guz or the more experimental self-evident Not Much To Say.

A novel detail makes an appearance on Je te vois, an acoustic electronic dance number with poetic lyrics tenderly sung in French for the first time. The artist’s romantic side also shows through the mystical elements interspersed throughout, from the spellbinding Encanto to the dreamy soundscapes of Atreyu, named after the famous German fantasy book character.

Thanks to a modest key riff and more cosmic effects, Aubade lends its meaning of “greeting in the sun” to the atmosphere, rounding off the release on an incandescent note.
