Matt Holliday returns to Bonzai Progressive with the fantastic Godforsaken which features three quality remixes from Rise and Fall, Crocy and metrONomes. A firm favourite at Bonzai, Matt has delivered some fine tunes over the last few years, including his last outing Pipe Dream as well as sublime cuts alongside friend and studio partner Manu Riga. 2016 has proven to be a very busy year so far for Bulgaria based Matt. Several radio shows, DJ gigs and a raft of top notch releases have kept him busy. But it's his recently released album - Phase Of Life (JOOf Aura) - that was his main focus. A truly forward thinking artist with a lot to offer, we always look forward to his new sounds.

On the Original Mix Matt Holliday demonstrates a mature and cultured take on the progressive sound. He digs deep on this one combining many elements to get us into the depths. This one is surreal, sensual and simply stunning. A solid drum section drives the track while a beautifully warm low end powers the groove. Swirling, panning pads deliver trippy sequences that draw us in further while distant melodies offer a light at the end of the tunnel. Fantastic yet again from this guy, this one will not disappoint.

Rise And Fall step up to the remix desk with another fine slice of progressive. A highly respected artist on the scene, his last outing for Bonzai - Genetic - gained a great deal of support as did his remix for Nico Parisi's Attica. On the remix here we are treated to a pumping progressive beat which is laced with a techno edging. Chunky kick drums lead the way as deep droning, gritty basses fill up the low end. A solid groove ensues and is shored up by a tight rhythmic flow, courtesy of some tight drum arrangement. This one goes deep and we soon find ourselves locked on for the duration, wanting more and more. Top notch once more form this awesomely talented artist.
Bonzai stalwart Crocy delivers another one of his emphatic remixes for our listening pleasure. Just recently he unleashed his own latest cut - Valve - which proved very popular indeed and solidified his stance on the progressive scene once more. Never one to miss a beat, we know we're in for some top notch sounds when this guy gets to work. 

On the remix here Crocy does what Crocy does and delivers a super fine quality progressive house joint. Nice and chunky kick drums are front and centre as rhythmic percussions layer up to take us to the floor. A punchy, stabby bass comes through to dominate the sound and is joined by various subtle melodies that combine beautifully to0 take us higher. The main melodic part is super sweet and stands out brilliantly amongst the lower frequencies. Another fine slice from the main man, not to be missed.

The dynamic duo metrONomes are back on remix duties to take us on another trip with their brand of deep grooves. With a penchant to blow our minds with their creative wisdom, it's no wonder these guys are much sought after when it comes to looking for quality vibes. Their last outing on Bonzai - Crocodile Tears - turned a few heads and showed up on many playlists, which is no surprise really. Much more to come from these guys in the future so stay tuned. The guys offer up a techno fuelled take on the original and as you'd expect they do an absolute outstanding job. Big punchy kick drums lead the way and are backed up with trippy FX and subtle synths. A monstrously deep, pulsating bassline is the big hitter here and no doubt the bassbins will take a hammering from it. Minimal, powerful solid techno grooves to set the floors alight, this one is a monster.

Godforsaken

Having launched 2017 with his 'Human Construct' EP, Coherent Mathematical Systems boss Matt Holliday returns home with his new single 'Divide & Rule' including an original mix and the awakened remix.

The original mix is unique in style, very dark with distorted beats and a haunting theme to take you on a journey, as the track is constantly building and changing until it almost reaches it's peak. After dropping into a lush breakdown with some new elemets, the track explodes back into the darkness, keeping you hooked once again until the track builds up to it's highest moment. A track that will please many DJ's, especially ones who are looking for something different.

The awakened remix is a pumping progressive trance piece of art. It builds with a pumping bassline, tribal drums and some killer effects before a new melody enters the build with some bassline changes to take you a little higher. There are moments of total chaos, and complete darkness which transform into lush epich highs. The breakdown is  haunting, melodic, deep and dark but barely prepares you for the drop where the track completely explodes into what could only be described as an anthem. 

Overall this is another excellent release from Matt who continues to surprise us with his creativity and diversity. Both tracks will sit nicely in any progressive house / trance DJ's collection.

Matt Holliday 'Divide & Rule' (Awakened Remix)

Matt Holliday follows up his release 'Divide & Rule' with a brand new, and slightly different to the last single 'Nightstalker' packed to the rafters with his own unique blend of techno, progressive and trance. His productions are getting plays from the likes of John 00 Flemming, Gai Barone and Solarstone amongst others; 2017 is set to be his biggest year yet. 

The original mix of 'Nightstalker' is an epic, atmospheric piece of techno with a breakdown set to blow you away. Muddy acoustic guitars set the tone playing a dark melody until the track bangs back into the atmospheric dimension with a huge kick drum, twisted bass and tons of atmosphere.

The progressive mix does exactly what it says on the tin, with an oldskool vibe. A bouncy bassline, stream line pads and some cool fx lead you to the once again moody acoustic guitar based melody in the break. The climax takes you by surprise by flipping upside down into a new psy based bassline which continues to build with the oldskool vibe pads transforing back into the original bass. This remix is like a journey back in time, made with todays technology.

Matt Holliday is back with a brand new two track EP featuring Remnant and Vanilla. Known as one of the great storytellers in electronic music with past success on many of the big labels in progressive house and trance, including JOOF, Bonzai and Black Hole to name a few, he now has his sights set firmly on progressing his career through his very own label Coherent Mathematical Systems. Opening with Remnant, Matt gently builds the track releasing it's hypnotic spell with chunky beats and lots of atmosphere, welcoming it's subtle synth riffs building to it's distinctive melodic hook stamping a decidedly unique identity on the track. Vanilla as a balearic feeling starting off with strong percussive elements, working it's way into an emotion filled beauty of warm pads and guitars before kicking back in with it's own unique balearic-prog feeling.

Renowned for his passion when behind the decks, absorbed in his sound, as one with the crowd, Matt truly feels how happy he makes people feel with what he is doing. Since making his mark with his debut album Phase of Life (2016) and several follow up singles and remixes, Matt's reputation has continued it's global expansion and now, with his Coherent Mathematical Systems platform he is about to step up to the next level.
