Such a sick spot and a fun gig to prepare for. Stepney was a producer, writer and arranger for a lot of amazing artists like Earth Wind & Fire, Muddy Waters, Deniece Williams, Rotary Connection and more. Since his passing in the mid 70s, Stepney’s music has been sampled in hip hop and other genres from artists such as Madlib, DOOM, ATCQ, 9th Wonder and more. So for this hour long set I played the original tracks and then mixed in the sample track for the comparison of both worlds. Music is dope. Got the Dilla book too 📚📓🎶🥁✨💫❤️‍🔥🔥☄️🍾💯📍

Nipsey Hussle, Born as Ermias Asghedom (8/15/85 – 3/31/19), was an American rapper and songwriter from LA, California. Emerging from the West Coast hip hop scene in the mid-2000s, Hussle initially became known for his numerous mixtapes, including his Bullets Ain't Got No Name series, The Marathon, The Marathon Continues and Crenshaw, the last of which rapper Jay-Z bought 100 copies of for $100 each. After much delay, his debut studio album Victory Lap was released in February 2018 to critical acclaim and commercial success, and was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards in 2019.

Hussle was murdered outside his store, Marathon Clothing, in South LA on 3/31/19
