This is a 2017 demo of a song I wrote in the summer of 2017. I was sitting on my boat in Georgian Bay Ontario and saw a post on Facebook that it was my niece's birthday. This song was written to celebrate her birthday. I've played this in a couple of venues around my home and a fellow came up to me and suggested this song could be sung for any special occasion like a wedding which honestly I'd never thought of. I now have a version of the lyrics that talk about "your special day". They're all Sweet Memories and are meant to be celebrated.

This is a 2017 demo of a song written in the 1980s. I was sitting on my back deck with my guitar feeling in a bluesy moon so I started "talking to the moon". This song essentially wrote itself in a couple of hours.

This is a 2017 demo of a song written in 2013. It's a song about feeling good, enjoying one another's company, just enjoying life. I've had people say to me "this song is not a Bossa Nova" which is true. But the point they're missing is the song is meant to make you think of Bossa Nova and all the fun and energy that goes into that music and dance.

Shadow River has already been posted as a folk version. Over the last few months I've been working with Bolt Upright Enterprises in Richmond Hill Ontario to produce a number of my songs. This is the latest version of Shadow River and these guys really made this pop! Just for information Bernd Queiser is playing slide, drums, bass, piano, Dave Greer played additional guitars and piano and I'm on acoustic guitars and vocals. The mix was lovingly done by Bernd and Dave.

In 2008 I lost someone very close to me. In her memory, some of her ashes are scattered over a waterfall in Hawaii. She would have loved that. The lyrics of this song are my attempt at metaphorically explaining what I think happens when we leave this Earth.

This version was done by Bolt Upright Enterprises in Richmond Hill Ontario. I think these fellows have done a great job on this song particularly at the end which really captures the "fly away" feel that I think this song needs. My friend Bernd has really figured me out. Just for information Bernd Queiser is playing drums, bass, percussion, piano, Dave Greer played additional guitars and I'm on acoustic guitars and vocals. Majestic (Free Yourself)

This is the production version of a love song written in the 1970's. This latest version was produced and mixed by Bolt Upright Enterprises in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. Bass, drums, acoustic guitar and keys were played by Bernd Queiser. Electric guitars were played by Dave Greer. Mixing and mastering were done by both of these fellows together.

Gentle Hope

I was on a trip to Peru in Jan 2019 and bought a new handmade mahogany guitar while I was there. This instrumental just kind of fell out of that guitar when I got home. There's also a second idea that came from that trip and guitar that's a tune with lyrics. I'm still working on that one. This instrumental was lovingly played and interpreted by Toby Wilson of the UK. He did a fine job on finding the life in this tune.

Dave Matheson ("El Colorado") is a singer/ songwriter who has been performing and writing music for over 40 years. Having been born and raised in South America (Peru and Colombia), Dave was exposed to a wide variety of music and culture. Early years were spent in rock bands performing in school functions and around the club circuit in Bogota, Colombia. One of those bands was featured on a local TV show. 

Since moving to North America, Dave has continued to develop his style including developing a better appreciation for vocal harmonies and the wide variety of music available. Influences include folk, blues, rock, jazz and a little Latin and Spanish rhythms thrown in for good measure. Add in life experiences and you'll find a unique blend of interesting lyrics, music and general joie de vivre. Enjoy!
