This album captures the interplay of complex emotions and shifting sentiments through the expressive voice of the electric guitar. Each track title reflects these emotional landscapes, leaving interpretation open to the listener. I want to hear the diverse stories and perspectives of those who connect with the music, so I deliberately choose not to explain too much. However, my hope is that this work resonates with those standing at life’s crossroads, navigating moments of choice and change.

From a sonic perspective, this project began with an improvisational approach using loop pedals, aiming to translate raw emotions directly into sound. Breaking from my previous methods, I embraced a new process of improvisation and editing to explore uncharted sonic territories. The electric guitar was envisioned as a canvas for emotional textures, evoking sounds of stormy turbulence or the gentle caress of a breeze. I take pride in capturing these contrasting atmospheres, as well as in preserving certain elements—sounds I might have previously discarded—that now serve as essential layers in the composition.

Through this process, I found myself uncovering unexpected shifts in my own thoughts. Observing these subtle fluctuations at a slower pace often led me to new perspectives and ideas.

French-born & Berlin-based Boris Paillard a.k.a. Mixanthrope has been shaking up dancefloors from Canada to Ghana since 2015 with African, Afro-diasporic and Afro-Caribbean songs & sounds. After working for the label "Akwaaba Music" in Accra, he created the monthly event series "African Beats & Pieces" in Berlin in 2017, inviting passionate DJs and underground live acts to explore specific musical themes.
