Episode 7 - Rendez-Vous at the KitKat

This year, I got to play a two hour set at the Lava Lounge White Party from 4AM to 6AM.  The set starts out with newer house tracks - vocal, upbeat, pretty straightforward stuff to get things moving. Then it leans into older disco and electro sounds, with remixes of classics and a few deeper cuts. From there, it shifts into more ravey territory — big synths, throwback energy, a little weird in a good way.

The ending pulls things back together with some fun, funky, vocal house and a couple tracks that just felt right to close it out.

The Magnificent - Live at the Lava Lounge Burning Flipside 2025 White Party

I played this set Thursday, April 23, 2025 at Lava Lounge, opening the Thursday night party and effectively opening Lava Lounge Flipside 2025.  This is basically an "oldies" set, focusing on original and updated versions of classic tracks.

Episode 9 - NOW That's What I Call Lava Lounge House Music Vol. 1

I arranged this mix as part of another set, but I really like it. It's a blend of It's a Fine Day by Opus III, Halcyon by Orbital (using the "10bz Halcyon Re-vox"), Jam On It by Newcleus, and Play Another Song For Me by Olga.

This is kind of an homage to how Orbital used to perform Halcyon live, mixing in Heaven Is a Place on Earth by Belinda Carlisle and You Give Love a Bad Name by Bon Jovi with some breaks.

Now they're both mixed together — the original and the track that sampled it — in a way that represents the spirit of Orbital's live performances by mixing in unrelated music and turning it into something new and interesting.

The image here is me performing this live at Burning Flipside 2025 inside Lava Lounge's White Party, where playing the Orbital Loop Cascade triggered the Lava Lounge Time Event of 2025.
