ABOUT THIS MIX:
So this was the first released "happy" speedcore mix, though it was not my first attempt at this sort of thing. I made about 8 practice mixes with MP3s, three of which were heavily melodic themed but I found I really enjoyed the exuberantly happy and fast stuff the best in those mixes, so I broke those mixes down into this one mix and added some new stuff including a bunch of TRP tracks that I have been wanting to hear in a mix for ages but never had anything to mix them into regularly. [TRP are me and a friend who sometimes make music to make each other laugh].
It all worked even better than I had expected and on the strength of the tracks alone this has remained my favourite mix (at time of writing - Jan 2020) since it was completed.
The bulk of the songs are J-Core, or at least Japanese in origin, purchased from Bandcamp. It's a style I have been desperate to hear for many years in a scene that is often marred by minimalist, or lazy production and where everything used to have to sound angry or scary. I just wanted fast complex and original music, none of that "fuck you motherfucker" bullshit. At the end of the day it's a style iv'e wanted to hear since about 1997 but I never thought at first I would have the skills to make it, then when I did have the skills I figured no one else was doing anything similar and no one would release or buy it. As a result of all of this I'm totally hooked on J-Core, even though I regularly don't understand any of the words. Amazing stuff.
My only gripe with the mix is that I had not learned any tricks for mixing the MP3s together at this stage other than balancing and making sure I dropped each track at the "optimal" point in the previous one. I later learned that I can do pretty much anything I like with MP3s, I don't have to act like it's a vinyl playing live anymore. I can cut stuff up, loop stuff, use FX and all that good stuff now. Due to the quality of the songs however this is a bit of a non-issue.

ABOUT THE MIX:
This was my second go at a happy speedcore mix 4 da Youtubes. 
I expanded the theme & title to cover more straight-forward melodic compositions too so I could pool tracks from a broader range of styles.
After the fun I had listening to the sped-up TRP stuff and hearing the tracks blend in the first mix I was inspired to do a bit of remixing and quickly attempted some enhancements for a load of TRP tracks. 5 out of the 6 TRP songs used in this mix were custom mixed specifically for this set. The other one (Burping Contest) just got a bit of an extension so I could mix it a bit longer. As a result the mix ended up as a bit of a showcase for the TRP tracks with more appearances from us than anyone else. In hindsight I felt this was probably a little excessive or arrogant so I try to limit appearances from acts that include myself to around 3-4 maximum per mix. Other artists max 4-5 tracks per mix, though I'll still go up to 6 as an absolute maximum if that is what is best for the mix overall (not including "The Spotlight" mixes of course).
After the first happy speedcore mix, I still had loads of unused tracks that did not make the original list and though they did not get into the first choice mix I figured they were easily all still worth hearing. Some were even held back specifically so they could be used in a second mix. I found Sytri-X's entire back catalogue on Bandcamp and got a sample selection of that (eventually going back for all of it) and even stumbled on a rare 250bpm Outside Agency track whist looking for atmospheric stuff which felt like it would be more at home in a happy/melodic mix.

ABOUT THE MIX:
So this mix was created in a slightly different way than the MP3 mixes I have done before. Mostly the same, but I gave myself almost no time to listen back to what I had made so far. I usually do this to assess small details from a wider perspective with every MP3 mix but in this instance I took a very long time blending the tracks together and virtually no playback time after (until finishing the set). This was mainly because I had set myself a deadline for completion which I don't like to do because I like to take my time. However it sort of kept all the songs (which were already awesome and mostly brand new additions to my collection) as fresh as the first time I heard 'em (in fact listening to the mix for the first time was the first time hearing a lot of these tracks all the way through (or for as long as I mixed 'em at least). I bloody love this set as a result. Though I would have thought the process would throw up more opportunities for small errors I seem to have pulled off a blinder regardless.
The mood of the mix is pretty much ecstatically happy for the most part (as usual for these "Happy" themed mixes) though I added a few, not quite as happy but very heavy tracks towards the end of the set. This means the set kind of ramps up in various forms of intensity (at the very least, speed and kick drum size/dominance) though it's still a mixture of styles.
I found loads of stuff I had somehow missed by the frequently name changing Stellabee & friends, all of which I was very happy about. Those songs plus her vocals send me into a very happy state where I just kinda move to it as soon as it starts. TBH I just want to live in those songs somehow.
I discovered that かめりあ (who I spotted in a few mixes had some really intense and intricate tracks) was Camellia so browsed through their works to find just the hardest and fastest stuff (though I'll go back for more) and there's 2 classics from 'em in this mix.

I have loads more tracks like these that did not make it into this set for a variety of reasons so I'll probably do another one like this at some point. I went for a kind of uplifting, happy but still heavy vibe for the most part, most of the unused tracks are much darker and even heavier.

ABOUT THE MIX:
This is the follow up to the previous Nostalgic mix released a few days ago. This one, as the title suggests is much happier, bouncier, funnier & generally a lot cheesier than the last one. There are a lot of Pop and Dance song references in this one, plus more film & TV cuts & samples and some Old Skool Rave bits & samples.
Note, these are not old songs for the most part but new songs with old bits in 'em.
The things that would trigger nostalgia in this set are probably more obvious and need less of an explanation than the previous set, though I will add that I really enjoyed this one, more than I expected to even. I'd say I even prefer it to the last one which I really liked as well.
I figured I would try blending one of my all time favourite of the early 90's ('89-'92) tracks in with the new stuff to see how it would sound (it's The Messiah track near the end). I was very pleased with the result though I had to do a mini re-balance & mix down of the entire song to get it loud enough (not the first time I had to do that though, even in this set). Plus it's a very rare remix that I don't think was ever officially released on anything other than one old Telstar (I think) Hardcore compilation called "Kaos Theory 4". Kaos Theory were probably my favourite of all the "of their age" old school UK Rave compilations. Anyone interested in the genre would do well to check 'em out where ever possible.
Other tracks worth a quick mention include my favourite of all the versions of "Dominator" that have cropped up over the years (Producer's Remix of "Faster Louder") which is growing on me with each listen to the point where it may currently be my top Producer track as well.
Brtekk's "Not USLS" was a hilarious crazy short burst of mega-fast Tom Jones (It's Not Unusual - a song I'm quite fond of thanks to the comedy short film "Mr Jolly Lives Next Door") which I extended to about three times its run-time by looping small sections over & over.
Miii's 'Madness Dinosaur Core" makes a second appearance in a mix, this time I chopped it up again but took it back to the beginning once the mix blend was over to show off the weird retro intro.
Smurf's stuff is awesome & perfect for this kind of set. I even remixed a couple of Smurf tracks in preparation for this mix. I can't name all the stuff he sampled but it's all good stuff (or at least it is now they are covered in Smurf's fat kicks).

ABOUT THE MIX:
This mix was an attempt to take this mix format back to it's vague abstract original formula and away from the heavily themed mixes of late in order to play a load of songs that would probably not fit with any of the existing themes. The atmospheric content of the music was by far the main reason for choosing the tracks that went into this set list. 
One theme that crops up reguraly for me despite this is a kind of school science show soundtrack vibe (fans of the show "Look Around You" will know what I'm talking about). It's a quite specific 70's/80's Sci-Fi sound or instrument set which appears in a few of these tracks.
Once I had the setlist together I had a go at a couple of intros. The first was too comical for the serious tone of a lot of the tracks here so I made a new one with less jokes and more "adrenaline". At least thats how it worked out for me. The funny intro I'll stick at the start of the next Happy mix probably.

ABOUT THE MIX:
The theme is simple enough, an Aliens Dream and all the tracks for this mix were chosen with that first track in mind. Chosen for their content, not the titles though so the names are not always relevant. There's a lot of vocals in this set though (unusual for the abstract vibe I go for usually with the atmos mixes) and not quite befitting of an aliens mind so I chose mainly vox that were already distorted or strange in some way and for those that were left over, I removed a few, added FX to many to make them sound more alien and left a few as they were for the occasional random burst of clarity.
I played a few tracks that I had not included before because I figured they would be very difficult to mix in MP3 format (or in general in some cases). However, with the aid of a certain new formula I had no problem with most of 'em. One exception that I wont mention that changed speed slightly half way through. Not the first time I have encountered that though and in the end it was all worth it.

About The Mix:
A relatively short mix I made in one afternoon so I could hear some of my new songs in a mix alongside some of my favourite Hellfish tracks. I found that it helped a lot with deciding on a final mix down for each track, and occasionally after putting tracks in mixes I notice bits that could or should be altered in my songs that I might not otherwise have noticed (despite listening to each track dozens if not hundreds of times before in one form or another). 
Choosing Hellfish as an "opponent" was easy enough, I have nearly every Deathchant release and probably hundreds of his tracks. I sped the Hellfish stuff up quite a lot (anywhere from 10-21%) and not far of that for my own tracks. Mostly coz everything just seems fresh again if you whack another 20-50 BPM on top, to me anyway and again, the extra speed can reveal minor flaws here and there in my own works. I found early on in learning how to mix that the bigger/heavier kicks pitch up very well but also discovered that a very high quality drum will also handle a large speed boost. Hellfish's kicks are both, I'm not sure if mine are quite as heavy on average but they are not far off and there are not many people creating that dirty UK vs Frenchcore sound. Most producers are either one thing or the other, not many strive to be a bit of everything.
Though I'm a big fan of Hellfish's production and sampling techniques I never felt like I could equal or best him when it comes to Hip-Hop sampling and knowledge. I have a modest amount of Hip-Hop on vinyl, enough to do a short set but most of it feels too old or obvious to sample. I respect the Drenchcore producers in a similar manner as I never looked out for catchy female vocals to sample before either. Not that I won't give these things a try in the future but not until I feel I can match what has gone before. Otherwise I'll just stick to doing my own thing and experimenting with my own new ideas.

ABOUT THE MIX [Most of this refers to the YOUTUBE Video for this mix which I highly recommend]:
This is the Final battle of the Tournament, scored as fairly as I could manage with the scores added up and each song given it's exact points as awarded during the game (to the best of my abilities - took hours just to add up the scores). Loads more awards and icons were created for this version to make sure it was scored as accurately as the game's rules would allow for.
Through all the skill involved from everybody there is still a fair amount of randomness built into the game in the form of various multipliers which can significantly improve the score of any track. For example one track I thought would not score well even with the extended awards list ended up in the Top 5 highest scores.
I won't give away the winner here but this one was what could be described as almost easy win for the victor and in many ways was not how I expected the scored to pan out (which was to be as evenly spread as possible within the rules).
I'll list some detailed descriptions of the rules in the comments when the video is up for anyone interested.
Anyway I hope you enjoy the video and mix and if you have an opinion on who should have won let me know in the comments section. If I get enough responses I'll name the winner "People's Champion". Nominations can be for any of the original 24 main participants.

THE RULES & SCORES:
As a generalisation the biggest scores always happen when the tracks work together to fill each others gaps and provide a relentless display of drums swapping back and forth so it could be said that co-operation is the real key to success.
Now that the game itself has rules that can be applied to any track so any mix can be scored in the same way I thought I would add some descriptions to the comments section about some of the Awards that can be encountered/achieved.

ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT:
Welcome to the World Speedcore Tournament where 64 planned participants will be battling for the World Championship title in a metaphorical musical sense. Very few of them actually know this is happening incidentally.

Everyone is judged as fairly as I can manage under the circumstances. The game can function fairly and without bias and I have also changed a few of the rules since the last Tournament to make the scoring less random and more skill based for the players. I score whatever I can think of that would get a good reaction. The final score for each round is essentially made up to suit the overall event (except for the final which will be totalled for real) however I still score the event fairly so the final scores and actual scores may be very different at times. The game has a fair amount of random chance involved still and it can be hard to predict exactly which tracks will score what until I get around to doing it. If anyone is interested in adding up the scores for real then that is fine with me and it is all set up and scored with that possibility in mind, however it will not change the officially announced scores.
There will be 2 rounds of Qualifiers, the top 2 ranked players from each qualifying round will progress on through to the Quarter Finals before Semi finals and the final itself. There will also be 2 Battle Royales to showcase artists who did not make the main Tournament. 
The new mixes were all a lot of fun and hopefully everyone entered into the Tournament will be happy with the new video backdrops, scoring and everything else, should they see any of it that is. As always with these Tournys, everyone entered into it must come out looking like a boss, even if they place 4th. That's the general rule. The main reason for not getting a high score is the number of tracks I own by each artist. E.g. someone with 20 tracks will usually score higher than someone with 5 for a load of reasons, even if those 5 tracks are all classics.

*THIS IS NOT A PROPER REMIX* This is an extended mix of the original track with extra loops of certain parts added in to extend the overall length. In the new bits I use a load of tricks and FX in order to keep things from getting predictable or repetitive so there are some new ideas but for the most part it's the original track and only parts of the original track were used for this version, no extra samples or anything like that. 

Whilst making the Tournament mixes I noticed sometimes I was creating half a new track here and there to extend some songs or just to hear them slightly differently. All these new sections are often used whilst blending tracks together and are therefore somewhat obscured by the other song usually. After a few months of just deleting all the new bits I thought I would try cobbling together some extended versions of the tracks I had played around with so all the crazy and unique edits can be heard outside of the mix and in their original setting.

For my mixes, especially the newer ones I enjoy the art of blending two records together for as long as possible with no mistakes/clashes (at least that's the general idea). I have practised this technique for around 20 years and find a lot of enjoyment creating a new thing out of two existing things in the process.  I probably even hold a world record somewhere for longest time spent blending records together in a mix, I'd be surprised to hear of anyone else doing the same thing to the same level anyway (though if you know of anyone let me know, especially if they play Hardcore).
I like Hardcore in all it's diverse styles, from the Old Skool Rave (Dutch or UK) to the most contemporary Hardcore Techno, Breakcore, even Happy Hardcore (especially if it's fast) but my preferred style would have to be Speedcore.
