New Flame Love In This Club

Feb 14th. Valentine's Day and the NBA All Star Weekend Converged in NYC, but so did the release of DJ Neil Armstrong's Love themed Mixtape Warmfuzzy Part 2 -  a collection of music from all over the musical spectrum. 

One of the remixes from the mixtape is this one, Will Ferrell Meets Pharell on a track made by a ficticious Basketball Player Jackie Moon. Perfect song for V-day and All Star weekend.

It's kinda fresh you listen to more than hip-hop...

10 years ago I dropped the mixtape ExtraOrdinary as part of the “all out king” mixtape series. What was on it? Groups like 10,000 Maniacs, The Doors, Nirvana, & Laura Branigan. Basically a lot of artists that fall out-
side the realm of urban music. At the time, the usual way of integrating “non hip hop” into the mix was the every popular “mashup”. But on this mix there was none of that. Regardless, it was mixed with a hip hop aesthetic, with the songs flowing into one another  seamlessly.

The point of making it was to show that good music is good music. I was trying to get people out of their comfort zone, or maybe realize that the box that they were in musically could be a lot bigger if they were open to it. I’m sure when people heard it some were suprised and not interested. But others have told me that ExtraOrdinary was one of their favorites.

Part 2 is meant to carry on the tradition. Music that  isn’t funk, but is funky in its own way. Songs that wouldn’t be considered soul but can still make you feel something. There are songs on here that you will
know just because they are part of the pop stream of consciousness. Some of the songs are gems waiting for your eats to discover them. 

They are all songs that will be out of the ordinary... 
ExtraOrdinary.

When I made the Drake Best I ever Had X 112 remix, I was experimenting with a lot of different instrumentals, and this one sounded pretty smooth as well. I released both of them as a pack, called the "pretty little remixes".

As I head up to T.dot this weekend for NBA All Star Weekend / Valentine's Day Weekend, I thought this would be proper all around to be reintroduced .

How the landscape of DJing has changed in these last 20 years. You can get music at the speed of your wifi, clicking a link on a computer screen and you don’t even have to leave the comforts of your own home. I love it.

Still though, I remember my days carrying 2 tons of vinyl, getting my fingers dusty and coughing up a lung, searching for months in record stores just to
find that perfect beat. Best believe…I love that too.

So now I present to you this mixtape.
STILL NONSTOP – Original Live Part 2.

A nice little ode to an art form that is getting appreciated less and less in this day of mp3s, auto sync and cue points.

This is a mix that returns to something I loved doing and STILL love doing – collecting vinyl, finding original samples – the building blocks of my favorite
hip hop songs, putting it back together with my own aesthetic, and performing it LIVE.

This was recorded in one shot – no cue buttons to push, no relative mode to stop the needle skips… and if its not on wax, it’s not on this tape. No Do overs ,
like it used to be…

Irreplaceable Hov X B remix + another sample from Sidepiece Valentine's

A few weeks ago I was messing around and came up with this remix. I Posted up the practice session on Facebook Live. Some folks asked me to record it for real. Here it is .

I think unfortunately there is a divide in urban music between the old and the new. This remix is an attempt to bridge that gap . The weeknd meets Michael Jackson on this remix of "Feel it Coming" w/ "Human Nature".

Folks often say that the weeknd "sounds like" the king of pop. Some might take that as a slight... I think comparing and sounding like MJ is a compliment and a half.
