Fyahtarian Finger Food (2022)

Based on one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite Funk groups. Kool & The Gang were a completely different group in the early 70s than they were in the 80s. A Horn heavy, breakbeat laden, Jazz Funk Soul outfit.  Their track "N.T." is probably the closest they came to a wandering, jam band type song, with the entire horn section getting a chance to breathe. With the kicker being the heavily sampled drum break that appears towards the song's end. Dilla flipped this break lovely on Q-Tip's "Breathe and Stop" and this remix cribs a bit from his version and peppers in a healthy dose of those boombastic K&G horns. Enjoy!

Instrumental re-work of the song maybe best best known to people of a certain age as the theme to the '70s sitcom "Taxi" but best known to Bay Area rap fans as the sample to Souls Of Mischief's "Cab Fare." It's one of my favourite beats, and I've always wished there was a good instrumental. I finally started making one, but ended up incorporating more of the original Bob James than I planned. The result feels like summer. Thanks to @djnickbike for the mix.
