The latest installment in our free download series welcomes Nick Warren and Nicolas Rada with their much requested take on Depeche Mode’s ‘The Things You Said’. As frequent studio partners since remixing Upercent’s ‘Pulsacions’ in 2017, Nick Warren and Nicolas Rada have become one of the progressive scene’s most beloved production teams. The duo have built a strong synergy over what has been a six-year creative swell, showcasing their original material on Nick’s The Soundgarden imprint, while also recording a string of impressive remixes for DAYS like NIGHTS, Get Physical, Proton Music and many more trendsetting imprints. Always looking for new avenues to test their creative chops, the duo took to re-imagining Depeche Mode’s ‘The Things You Said’ earlier this year. Released in 1987 as part of the band’s ‘Music for the Masses’, an album widely regarded to encompass the best styles from both ‘Black Celebration’ and ‘Violator’, ‘The Things You Said’ has stood the test of time and remains a high point on the seminal and much loved long-player. Nick Warren and Nicolas Rada have combined their extensive forces once again, knocking out a near nine-minute epic rendition which has not only been a staple in Nick’s recent sets, but also finds the duo landing more additive ever. Oblivion Episode #54 - Good Bye 2023

One of New Zealand’s longest-running house music brands, Electric Orange started almost 20 years ago as a free party for the beamers, dreamers and schemers of the Auckland scene.
What they dreamed up next were Sunday afternoon sessions, Saturday night shindigs and - finally - a record label with a growing reputation for deep and driving underground grooves.
It’s the natural place for Mono/Loco - one of the many aliases of label co-founder and resident DJ Chris Reed - to release his tribute to all those who put Electric Orange on the musical map, particularly founder Andy Vann.
The Saturday Night Mix is custom-built for smoky basement action, powered by rolling percussion, propulsive rhodes and a hypnotic single-note bass riff complemented by a syncopated acid line. Squelchy, filtered stabs and strings add further layers of warmth in the second half.
But it’s the vocal that brings everything together, conveying emotion, meaning and soul in two superbly deployed lines.
The Sunday Afternoon Mix is a wobbly disco-tinged treat - proper tablet tackle if that’s the kind of things that floats your boat.
Built around an ascending old-school bassline and expertly filtered loops it’s both of its time and redolent of the late 90s US house sound that remains one of the Mono/Loco touchstones.

Although we share a common passion, we provide unique skills, talents, ideas, styles, and backgrounds that help keep our minds open. Everyone in Ridgeback has been DJing, producing, performing, or all of the above for many years. We have vast experience and knowledge in music and music production. We have two large full production studios in the Dallas/Fort Worth area along with several smaller, yet quite efficient, home studios. We are catching the attention of several solid house and progressive house labels as well as some international DJ attention.
