My aim with this set is to showcase my preferred style of Techno, so listeners know what to expect from me. I am very satisfied with it! I plan to continue building my style consistently so I'll post mixes here regularly.

I was listening to my previous sets and noticed that the track selection wasn't quite like what I was envisioning. It had too many goofy sounds and the flow wasn't that consistent. I guess it's part of the overall growing process. In the future I might think the same thing about this one too. But well, at the moment this is my best version.

Yesterday I decided to dig some new tunes. Reached almost 250 tracks in my library and ended up deleting almost half of the ones I had - prior to the new discovery - for the purpose of having only "DJ Tools", sounds that are really minimalistic and without crazy variations. By having a minimalistic library like this, I feel it allows me to focus more on blends and to play more with the decks in order to create a unique sound. I want to keep busy.

I'm left now with around 100 tracks and with this mix I had the intent to make the most out of them. I use 3 layers when mixing to ensure that I do not get fatigued hearing a particular track over and over, because of the multiple possible combinations I have to variate the sound.
But I will not stop digging for new music of course. We just gotta keep refreshing the library. That's our job.

The goal of this mix is to mainly showcase an hypnotic vibe. A mix focused on a progressive and crisp sound, where every track gets a chance to breathe and enter the mix.

Lately, while practicing 2 deck mixing I noticed that the result was a different vibe than my other mixes where I use 3 layers. Despite my song selection being essentially the same, combining that to the 2 deck mixing, plus a slower BPM would result in a hypnotic yet rhythmic environment.

I really liked the challenge and decided to mix only with 2 decks. This may sound easier than 3 decks, but actually no IMO. A lot more attention needs to be paid to the tracks' levels in order to achieve a consistent mix energy-wise. EQing is key! When a track fades out, the risk of dropping the energy and killing flow of the mix is very high - Definitely sounds like a great opportunity to give it a try.

Twilight Hypnosis

Just dropped a new set, and since Spring started, I decided to film it completely to appreciate the sunset. (Check out my YouTube channel)

As for the tracks, this time I chose not to surpass the 138BPM mark to focus on rhythm. Actually, I think I just found my sweet spot.

Levels-wise I don’t think this has been my best one. Been struggling really hard with gain staging recently. I’m improving but not there yet.
Right after sound selection, gain staging is the next most important thing to master IMO.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the sound.

Took a step back and dove into the fundamentals. Here I focused more on EQing and less fader work. I feel this gives me space for more precise mixing. Hearing how both tracks' frequencies blend with each other while twisting the knobs is a different feeling 😮‍💨

I'm all about minimal, percussive and hypnotic loops. The kind of sound that keeps me hooked to the dancefloor.

DJNZ comes from an Intel 8051 CPU instruction: "Decrement and Jump if Not Zero." It creates loops and starts with DJ, so I had to claim it.
