SODAA Club is a community developing a decentralised governance model for a music & arts venue in London.

Their first release explores the foundations of their own sound - with members and friends of their commmunity, the 31-track compilation is "genreless and fluid, self-organised and bottom-up."

Inspired by the decentralised release of Alkisah by Senyawa, any label sharing similar values could release their own version : "the artists and the labels participating in this compilation believe in a more equitable and collaborative future for our scenes, one guided by principles of solidarity economy, distributed decision-making, and the rejection of capitalist notions of culture, music and space."

The profits will be split between the artists and SODAA, as a way to raise funds for their long-term goals, with a part going to the labels for their help.

Drums of Utopia is the new project from MIF Sounds artist Obeka, a collaborative LP that celebrates the connectivity of lives, environments and music culture across different corners of the world.

Drawing on his own journey of discovery, the mini-album was developed during his MIF Sounds residency and features dynamic sounds from a number of countries, including guest appearances from artists such as Mexico’s Ultima Esuna now based in Montreal, South Africa‘s Mxshi Mo, Swedens Bobo, and Brazilian-Amazon native Kid From Amazon.

In Obeka’s own words, “Over the past decade my migration and discovery of global sound-system culture has shown me how important understanding and connectivity of our lives are. Music, alongside present-past sounds from our surroundings and experiences can be channeled so much more and is one of our most vital tools for unity in today’s world. Drums of Utopia aims to use this action to its fullest degree.”
